I think I read that he had a huge music career in Europe or did some years back.

Unfortunately again, yes, he did. Bad times.

Of course we could all defend our favorite band and rip a new one to those that don't love what we do, but that won't change a thing. It's fun, tho. Actually, I wanna finish this post and click submit quickly cuz I wanna see how the Springsteen Battle unfolds.

Bruce doesn't lose Laura, especially here. I proved my point with Pdiddy, but should probably lighten up against her she seems very friendly and nice. I just can't have falsehoods leveled against Bruce.

When Jessica Simpson was all the rage for a while she and Nick got a variety show or Christmas show. I can't remember what it was. But her performances were terrible. She had a good voice, but she has gone off the deep end with the way she tries to deliver a song, overwrought and trying so hard that it's exhausting and not good. You would think she would have people that would tell her the truth.

Sorry Mr. Perfect. Jesus Christ, 1980, 1984, what the Hell's the difference? Reagan was in office 8 fuckin years anyway. Bruce wrote that song in 1979-1980 after reading Born on the Fourth of July by Ron Kovic. He finally finished it up in 1983. It was one of the 7 top ten singles from the album with the same name. IIRC, no other album has produced 7 top 10 hits.

Wasn't it originally a strictly-acoustic song, but at the last moment he decided to turn it into one with synths and bombast?

That would be Mrs. Perfect  . I just thought while you were pointing out everyone else's errors, I'd join in (not only that, I have one of those very special memories that occurred exactly around the time Born in the USA was released, so the year sticks out :P) .

If you're going to call Bruce a "has-been" then you had better call Perry the same thing, as per your nutty definition of "has-been." Turnabout is fair play, and all that.

I agree with you. I'm not a rap expert, and certainly the gangsta lifestyle is a mess, but to say none of them have any talent is ridiculous. Saying "MORE LIKE CRAP LOL RITE" is ignorant and unfunny.

Ironic they would actually let him perform on a show with the name 'talent' in the title - what a goofball.

A FEW have good lyrical abilities, but most of them are utterly talentless, unless you count creating a beat in GarageBand and talking fast over it a talent. Rap's prominence is one of the things that makes me most ashamed of my own generation (I'm 23). I have to go to bars where the average age is twice mine just so I don't have to listen to that shit all fuckin night. I wanna hear guitars and singing when I drink my beers

Amen. There's a difference between being creative and being talented, and then there's also a difference between being creative and being derivative.

Most of today's rap scene is a nonstop blind freight train of derivative sham. There's good rap out there but it's stuck under all the ridiculous, repetitive SHIT passed off as hip hop.

Even disco woulda been 10000000x better. At least that had melody and instrumentation for the most part, and if you get into some deep cuts by a heavy disco hitter like the Bee Gees, they actually had some fuckin great songs.

Just caught this. You love Meatloaf but cannot tolerate Rod Stewart? Early Rod was classic. Hot Legs, You're in my Soul, Maggie May, You Wear it Well, Tonight's the Night, Every picture Tells the Story and so many more....Granted, late Rid blows, much like late Elton John.

B52's. They're a fun band and who doesn't like Love Shack blasting in the club at 1AM?

Yes Dean, I love Meat Loaf (I think you’re jealous :) ) so I must defend him. When Bat Out of Hell II came out in 1994, I’d Do Anything for Love became my all-time favorite song and Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through from that album actually did get me through; Meat Loaf’s music got me through hard times and was also the first concert I ever went to and it rocked, so it’s personal for me. Paradise and Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad are classics. From Wikipedia online – “Bat out of Hell has sold more than 40 million copies. After more than 30 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually, and stayed on the charts for over 9 years.” OK, Meat may play the crappy venues in the US, but still sells out arenas in UK. His music is good and you know it!!!

I give you the classic Rod Stewart songs you pointed out but I listed Rod based on the Great American Songbook collection (boring) and when I saw him on Rockin’ News Years Eve looking and sounding like he stumbled out of bed with a bottle of Jack Daniels.

I’m not happy about all the Bruce bashing I’ve been reading about one bit either!!

I happen to like Meatloaf as well have seen him twice...first time with Blue Oyster Cult and it was a great show...second time small venue and he was older but still a great show.

IMO Rod Stewart is one of the ones that back in the day really rocked...have seen him twice as well.

Bruce.....love, love, love....Born to Run...know it backwards and forwards...still listen to it at least once a week!!!

Dave Matthews
Eminem (Talented, but an asshole)
Lady Gaga (What is it?)
Actors/actresses who think they can sing in a rock band
Britney Spears
Over 60 rock bands (you don't look cool, you just look old)
Nirvana
That rapper dude with the gold teeth and big clock around his neck that's seems to be on every crappy "reality" show (he single handedly sets the equal rights movement back 50 years)
Brett Michaels (speaking of crappy reality shows) Do you think he has any hair left on the top of his head?

Whew! I feel much better now.

I don't know exactly what it is about DM I hate so much. I can't stand his voice, his looks creep me out, and I don't care for his style of music. Pretty much the whole package I guess.
