Final Spectrum Show Announced

Postby Art Vandelay » Thu Sep 17, 2009 4:24 am

The final show at the Philadelphia Spectrum was just announced. Check this out...tix are gonna be 1967's prices ($4, $5, $6).

The Hooters
Hall & Oates
Todd Rundgren

Friday, October 23rd

Very classy way to close up the old joint, getting a bunch of hometown favorites at those prices!

WOW!

H&O and Todd - two of my favorites. Is Todd going to be playing AWATS still? I doubt it, but that'd be a treat if he is. I saw the first show in Akron two weeks ago - AWESOME.

You think Neal would ever agree for Journey to play any show for $5/ ticket ??? , split between 3 bands (and few ex-wifes) If anything he'd like to charge 2067's prices ;)

Would be fun show but the real hometown band is playing 4 nights just prior to this date. I will be there the 20th for what is supposed to be a 5 hour long show. :D

Art, you live in Philly? Wanna come party in the Spectrum parking lot with RedJoan13, Granny and her hotass daughter? :P

Would love to, Deano, but am out of town that week. Pissed off too because I had to turn down extra Boss tix that my neighbor had. No doubt gonna be a great show. I'm still surprised that Billy Joel and Elton John didn't do their Face to Face tour in the Spectrum this past summer. Saw them both countless times there and like Bruce, they owned that place.

I have to admit I went to the place to watch Wrestling with my Grandfather quite a bit. Bob Backland, Tony Atlas, Larry Zabisco, The Samoans, etc.

Saw quite a few shows there, too.
V-H (with Roth), Journey, Reo, Styx, Kansas, Heart, Survivor, Fleetwod Mac, Genesis, Men At Work, The Cars, Rush, Ozzy, Pat Benatar, Adam And The Ants, Devo, Triumph, etc.
Man, a lot of memories in that building.

They're always good for a Philly event...especially one that's WMMR related. I think Pierre Robert is the MC for this show. Great day in the morning!

Dude, you paid money to see Men at Work, Adam Ant and Devo?

WTF is Survivor playing a big barn like that? They must have been opening for REO or Journey.

I was just reminiscing about Philly TV shows yesterday. The kind I watched as a kid.

Chief Halftown
Popeye Theater (with Sally Starr)
Al Albert's Showcase
Captain Noah
Wee Willie Webber
Cartoon Corners (with Gene London)

I know there are others I'm forgetting.

Larry Ferrari and his Hammond organ!
He also did the music for Chief Halftown and Noah and his Magical Ark.
