What an awesome Show this was!
Night Ranger opened. I had never seen them before but I have a cassette tape of 7 wishes that I play a lot. They sounded great and really began to warm up the crowd which mostly was there for Journey. Other than Kelly's mike being too low, they sounded great and rocked out, even played a damn Yankees song! Jack Blades is a funny guy!
Journey Surprised me. This was my 4th time seeing journey, 1st time seeing Arnel perform live, and wow....this is not the same band that I saw the 1st three times. They had tons of energy. They played songs I have never heard them play live, and I mean some deeper cuts. They played keep on running with Deen on vocals. They even played an instrumental with harmonica and a mandolin from departure (I believe...they said 1980...so yeah), they played still they ride, ect. and every single song....literally almost every song was in some way remixed with a breakdown of some sort. Any way you want it had a change in it where they rocked hard then went into the solo. Separate ways at the beginning had this crazy keyboard guitar instrumental thing toward the end. And they did this with most of the songs.
Arnel went for the crazy high note toward the end of wheel in the sky! I couldn't believe it. He did some crazy high notes I have never seen him do on you tube. And he would hold them out!!!
They played three revelation songs, Never walk away. Change for the better and wildest dreams which all sounded way better live and crazy energy. Even they crowd would stay standing during those songs.
TO sum the night up, it was truly a night to remember. And I say again this is not the same journey, they were on fire! and they were different.[/b]
