Show was fine. Arnel seems more cleaned up with some of the accent that bothered me last year. *HATE* the extended stuff they've added this year. Ruins the flow of the song completely for me. Open Arms is the only song where I thought it almost worked ok.

I got a kick out of the bootleg t-shirts being sold outside.

Setlist (not in order):

1. Majestic
2. Sep Ways
3. Only the Young
4. SSB
5. Stone in Love
6. Never Walk Away
7. Keep on Runnin (Deen)
8. Change for the Better
9. Send Her My Love
10. Lights
11. Still They Ride (Deen)
12. Open Arms
13. Escape
14. Higher Place
15. Wildest Dream
16. Wheel
17. Anyway You Want It
18. Faithfully
19. DSB

Encore: LTS

I think that's it. No "Be Good," "Ask the Lonely,"

No "Patiently / Why Can't This Night" But first time I've been able to hear Keep On Runnin live, yay. I live for Stil They Ride and this was only the second time I've heard it, certainly a highlight.

The Dirty Dozen drolls on. They could get away with just 6 from the DD and put some lesser known rockers in play.

EOTB
Chain Reaction
Party's Over
WDILYL
FIB
IHSBYH

City of the Angels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPiZpVtjHH0

etc.

Mix it up, its the same thing over and over. Nice that they did KOR and STR though.

The problem is you totally lose the audience if you deviate too far. Even the setlist they played was stretching the audience's patience--especially on Wildest Dreams. Still They Ride went over quite well though--go figure... I'm sure they'd love to do some of these "fun" setlists, but the bread and butter is the Greatest Hits audience, and money talks. Don't entertain the audience, they won't pay to see you the next time around. Considering the number of hits that were NOT played (Ask the Lonely, Who's Crying Now, Be Good..., Girl Can't Help It, When You Love a Woman, etc), this is far from the "safe" setlist. I'm afraid that barring the special show (ie Graspop) or a 2+hr set, it's as good as you are going to get.

The up close people seeemed to be somewhat into the Revelation stuff, but gah NO ONE responded to Higher Place.

And Jon surrrre looked like he didn't wanna be there. He's looked like that for the last few years at each show I've been to.

You CANNOT inject Send Her My Love into the set. They HAVE to play Open Arms and Faithfully unfortunately...and more ballads can only come in the form of something new. Send her my Love needs to be taken out to the J-aveyard and buried.

Definitely not a ballad... a moody, atmospheric song that would fit in a prog band's conception of a "ballad." I could easily see Dream Theater circa early 90s or Kansas circa mid 80s doing Send Her My Love. Neal's solo is incredible on that track. Drums are great too.

I don't agree about taking out Send Her My Love either as that is My ALL time favorite sng from Journey and it was fantastic!! Sat front row in front of Neal and Arnel was great and Neal was on fire as usual. Higher Place was great and I agree, when they were playing revelation material the audience mostly sat down and did look bored. It's obvious they will never ever be able to get away from the dd as much as I hate it and I LOVED the extended versions!! Also the audience did also love Still They Ride As Well.

They did not disappoint as usual!!

Great Show.

people at the shows?!?! I'm serious, what gives?!?!?

I think the majority of the concert goers have Dirty Dozen on the brain. I have noted that those most excited by the new material usually have seats in the first few rows. Nostalgia must still be a hot seller.

Honestly I think 10% of the fans are die hard Journey fans and the rest are like you said there for Nostalgia. As a matter of fact I was in the front row and 2 woman behind me did not know Steve Perry had left Journey!! Honestly these people don't follow them near as much as we do and really don't have a clue past the dirty dozen! I will say this was an in door venue and I was in front seat and really wasn't loud at all.

I think I was the only person in the front row singing to Higher Place. Sure made ME happy!!!!! :) I must admit I don't know any of the Revelation stuff and neither did the people around me.

I will say this too. That stage setup didn't look near as good as it usually does either. I guess Neal said they got rid of the middle monitor to put more money in the sound quality? Well I said they sounded great but they weren't near as loud as Night Ranger and I like LOUD. Honestly it cant ever be to loud for me. :D :D :D

That's a good set list. The only thing I would do if I led this band would be drop OA and insert say, Just the Same Way or maybe FITH or even TPIYH. Oh it's a about 4-5 songs too short too. A band that is a Grade A band doesn't meddle along with 19 songs. Have to play at least 23-24 tunes.

Another thing that bothers me is I used to be a big Cain fan back in high school but he Truely does look bored out of his mind and there is almost no interraction at all between him and Pineda. Is there friction between those too? Neal looks like he's having the time of his life and so do Arnel, dean and Ross but Jonathon looks like he just wants to go home. What gives?

Sounds totally fine to me? Maybe I'm tired... I don't hear it speeded up anything like they did back in the mid 80s.

I thought the sound was way too quiet too! Normally that close my ears are ringing afterwards - that just wasn't the case this time. And none of the songs sounded too fast to me?

Escape didn't sound much faster but when they kicked into Wildest Dreams it was obvious. Not that unusual, shows are faster tempo.

LOL, Friga at 1:15. Totally captures his boredom. You can read the thought process too.
