Journey - Send Her My Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUc62lnhhPU

And the very next song after Send Her My Love that is on my home made cassette arrangement that I put together and would listen to while walking around in Tokyo on a cold winter evening was:

The Cars - Drive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbTjzZzfR7w

Most of all the tunes I like are sappy I guess  . 80's doesn't seem that long ago, but I guess they are.

Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L8-FTvSVxs

These were some of the ballads that reminds me of my childhood

David Bowie - Space oddity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhSYbRiYwTY

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fETIjVvv1Ds

Chicago - Saturday In The Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTFD1C4tVIg

Time Passages is an all time favorite. Don't care if he is gay or not. Great use of the sax.

Best none sappy ballad...FREEBIRD... Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Agreed.

Best none sappy ballad...FREEBIRD... Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Agreed big time. That's the Souths' National Anthem.

Are you going to see Brucey Pete?

Speaking of which, is there a better written/lyrical ballad than Streets of Philadelphia?

my two favorite non sappy ballads

Your sisters gone out , shes on a date, you just sit at home and masturbate - lyrics NOT sappy!

and 2) ALice Cooper, Inmates, Were all Crazy

"And it's not like we thought we was right
We just played with the wheels of a passenger train
That cracked on the tracks one night"

I'd like to know the answer to that as well. They keep referring to Don't Stop Believin as a ballad. I just don't see that.
