Neal absolutely brilliant as always on stage - looked gorgeous - what a soulful guitarist
Deen, What can I say - killed on his songs and what a drummer
Jon - he's not appreciated enough. Loved him on harmonica with Neal
Never noticed really or cared about the half-step down as Arnel's tone on the songs was great
Loved every minute of the show. My only wish was Mother Father as I've never heard that live. Revelation songs really are great live. The crowd was really into Journey tonight.
ARNEL - WHAT CAN I SAY. ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS FRONTMAN, HAS REALLY COME INTO HIS OWN, SO MUCH MORE CONFIDENCE THIS YEAR, HAS ADDED HIS OWN STYLE TO THE SONGS, STUNNING VOICE, REALLY ROCKED THE SONGS, AMAZING ENERGY, AND SUCH A BEAUTIFUL FACE ARNEL HAS WITH A GREAT SMILE.
Most importantly, I will never ever understand anyone who doesn't think Arnel sings with emotion. Tons of emotion in his delivery of songs.
THIS COMMENT FROM MY SISTER: I've never had the chance to see Journey live back in the day, but I do believe Arnel has one of the most beautiful, haunting, soulful voices I've heard in a long time. His energy on stage astounded me, how he could run from one end of the stage and sing so effortlessly, unbelievable.

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you had a good time.
So what did you think of the extended jams in the songs?

I actually loved all the extended jams tonight. It really freshens up the greatest hits and I never tire of guitar solos. Too tired to do the setlist, but I believe it was the same as Atlanta.
By the way, I loved Night Ranger. Unfortunately, their vocals were down in the mix soundwise, but I didn't care b/c it was guitar ectasy listening to them.
Rick wrote:That's cool. Night Ranger is a pretty hard rocking band. Brad Gillis is a monster on the guitar.
Wally_Hatchet wrote:Night Ranger gave Journey a run for their money. I enjoyed their set more. Their sound was cleaner
and the twin guitar leads were loud, clear and up front. Most importantly for me, they seemed more happy
to be there than Journey did (except for AP). They interacted with the audience more and all of them looked like
they were having a lot of fun up there. The new guitarist is very good with a commanding stage presence.
Made me forget all about Jeff Watson. He looks an awful lot like Sebastian Bach, too. New keyboard player
was really happy and animated, a definite improvement. And face it... Brad Gillis is God!!!
Dean C. sat in on drums on Sister Christian and he nailed it just like the album. One of my favorite drummers,
but I gotta say it - what's with the hair? Ugh. Looked like he should be drumming for The Romantics
or The Cure or something. Dean, please get a haircut. Tell Ross he could use one, too.
Pics/vids of both bands soon. Here's the sets, close but not in perfect order:
NIGHT RANGER (1 hour):
THIS BOY NEEDS TO ROCK/HIGHWAY STAR
SING ME AWAY
COMING OF AGE (Damn Yankees)
SECRET OF MY SUCCESS
SENTIMENTAL STREET
EDDIE'S COMIN' OUT TONIGHT
WHEN YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES
HIGH ENOUGH (Damn Yankees)
DON'T TELL ME YOU LOVE ME
SISTER CHRISTIAN (Dean on drums)

I thought the same thing! He could easily pass for Sebastian if someone wasn't looking too closely. And I've seen that guy before with another band, too... just can't remember where. Who is he?

This could be interpreted so many ways.
With 10 shows left and their next tour pretty far off, Azoff probably told him to get his ass out there and smile for a change.

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say!We were right in front of him in Pensacola, and it was my first Night Ranger concert. We'd run into Jack Blades earlier that day and he was incredibly nice and accommodating. So I was excited for the show. Gillis IS a total guitar monster, and we were just blown away by his talent. Plus, he's kinda like Wolverine on the guitar -- pumped up, kinda hairy, and made all these really menacing faces while he was shredding. That was tops! I can totally see that guy shotgunning a brewski, crushing the can on his forehead and then just tossing it at ya.
Check him out in this YT clip -- especially the solo (starts around 4:28):

Jon's looking hot these days! He was a real cut up during our meet in Pensacola! He's been a lot of fun the times I've seen him.
Post some Orlando pics!!!
And, yes, to Isla, all the guys came in for the meet and greet and were really in a great mood and looked great. It was very rushed b/c of time constraints. I heard Jon yell out something laughing. But Jon isn't my Jon. I'm a Neal fan first and foremostand absolutely adore Arnel. He is an absolute joy to watch on stage and is so gracious in person. But I love the whole band and loved seeing them cutting up and laughing when they came in. Deen looked great, too, very healthy. So whatever was going on with him healthwise in Europe is over.

Meet & Greet
About 40-50 people at the M&G so no autograph signing. Allowed 1 picture. All the band members were present. I stood next to Arnel. He’s shorter than I am. I said “thank you” and “maraming salamat.” Arnel said “Enjoy the show” and something else, which I can’t remember right now. Hubby stood next to Deen. Deen is shorter than hubby. Hubby said he had a few words with Deen. Hubby said, “I want to stand next to you because I played drums in high school.” Deen laughed. Deen laughed harder when hubby said, “But I’m sure that you’re much better than I."M&G was quick.
