However, this is my take on this matter. There is absolutely not way this band will ever, ever, ever have a hit without Steve Perry, hell if Perry came back they won't get get a hit record, this band is so far gone it's not even funny anymore... if they were gonna have a hit, it would of been with Augeri, the man was so much more appealing and marketable than Arnel Pineda, who cares who's a better singer, Augeri was a stud and the ladies loved him, and Journey didn't make it then, what makes them so special today? apart from trying so desperately to emulate the Steve Perry era legacy sound.
For somebody who you think is not marketable, he accomplished these and he's only been with the band for less than 2 years..........
Journey first Album with Arnel
Journey's first album with Pineda, Revelation, debuted at No. 5 in the Billboard Top 200 album charts in the week following its release (released June 3, 2008), and remained in the Top 20 for six weeks. It was certified gold by RIAA with more than 336,000 units sold within the first few days.[16]. It achieved platinum status by October 1, 2008.
(Journey first Album with Perry
Infinity (1978), reached No. 21 on the album charts and gave the band their first RIAA-certified platinum album plus hit singles out of "Lights" (#68 U.S.) and "Wheel in the Sky).
After All These Years peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks on September 20, 2008,[1] giving the band
their first top-ten hit in twelve years. It stayed on the Billboard charts for over 23 weeks, making it one of Journey's most successful adult contemporary hits.
Three consecutive sold-out days concert in Hawaii (in record time), concerts in Chile, Japan, China, Phil, Europe -Metal show concerts with rave reviews. Many sold out show in US 2008-2009.
TV shows: CNN, CBS News, The Early Show, Super Bowl Pre-show, Oprah
Magazines: GQ, Rolling Stones, Time Magazine, People Magazine
The success may not be the same as Perry era but worth noting.
BTW, do not underestimate the appeal of Arnel to women, you'll be surprised.
