Eh....Gotthard seems to be getting away from the melodic sound and revisiting their sound from the first couple of albums....gone are the catchy hooks of 'Human Zoo', and 'Lipservice'. 'Domino Effect' ushered in the more heavier tendencies, and 'need to Believe' continues that trend.

I'm only diggin' tracks: 6,7,9 and 12.....

Steve's voice still kicks ass, but the song style leaves alot to be disired.... :?

You don't like Shangri-La, Need To Believe and Unconditional Faith?
Need To Believe does remind me a bit of Shinedown.

I'm HAPPY that they're getting back to the sound of the first 3 albums. They went astray for many years and the album Lipservice was a welcome return to their roots. This album is good, but Lipservice was better

I'm pretty sure someone was listening to Deep Purple when they wrote Shangri-La.  but I dig the song. 8)

Personally, I think they are one of the most consistent bands around, regardless of style. They never really repeat themselves, but whatever path they choose, they put out consistent records. G, Homerun, Lipservice--3 totally different styles, all very good. Need to Believe, the album, sounds like a good cross between Lipservice and Domino Effect. They have modernized their sound--by choice--but change the production, and you have your melodic hard rock record.

To me, heavier is a good thing. :D I loved Domino Effect a touch more than Lipservice, so it's all good with me.

OK, I caved...

This stuff is great!! It's a little heavier, but not so much in the "old" Gotthard kind of way...it's more like an updated, grittier Gotthard...GREAT melodies throughout the songs I heard..."Don't Let Me Down" sounds amazing...someone mentioned Shinedown (who I happen to think are great) and it's not that it copies Shinedown, but it's got that kind of big, clean Rock sound...loving it. I'd LOVE to see this band in concert...

I had mentioned Shinedown and I meant it just like you said...not copied just that sound. :)
