Since when did I become something you can order at McDonald's?

A Journey documentary called DSB about ARNEL???? Seriously??? They've reached a new all-time, rock bottom, low on pimping out that song. Rags to riches story or not, Arnel didn't have a damn thing to do w/ the success of DSB, so he shouldn't be using that song to promote his two seconds trying to be another Perry ripoff. I guess they had to figure out SOME way to pimp that DVD using the back catalog.

Overreact, much? The filmmaker used one of the band's own song titles to name the documentary. What's could possibly be wrong with that? And the documentary isn't about the song, or the band during the Perry years. Apparently it's a snapshot of the band with Arnel, and focuses on Arnel's story. The damn video isn't going to be about the song. Chill out.

It comes out in December, if I'm not mistaken.

Bet the band didn't expect the extent hoopla surrounding Arnel has gone. He's about to become a household name (if he didn't already from Ellen).

NOprah and his own movie?

Just like he was after Ellen

and the Super Bowl

and the Today show

Not singing an original song isn't helping him here. If they don't tour this summer, it's sort of long time to remember someone singing a song once, that you here someone else singing pretty much every day on the radio over the last 28 years.

to me, this is just great publicity to help sell the Manila DVD, and I'm sure they moved up the release date, since they got the Oprah gig, to capitalize on it.

I understand they couldn't change the timing of the appearance so having the DVD come out in that time frame was a coup for them. I guess the Tonight Show or Letterman should be on their radar for their next tour promotion, whenever that is.

I agree. They need to get on one of those shows for next tour. Lately I've heard some real junk on late night shows and keep thinking why doesn't a great band musicianshipwise like Journey get on compared to a few of these I've seen.

I don't see an issue not going into the Encyclopedia Journeytannica on Oprah for Arnel. So not mentioning SA or JSS is moot. Perry they have to mention. Unless of course they present the band's side in a way that makes it sound like "We had Steve Perry, he went away, now we have Arnel..." and are trying to make themselves look less frontman bi-polar by having selective memory with their own history.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the less frontman bi-polar scenario.

Ok I don't know about household name and as much as I love Arnel's voice he's getting attention for being a so called sound alike, not anything original.

It is entitled "DSB", is it not? It is about Arnel in Journey, right? Who said anything about the video being ABOUT the song? I'm saying that NAMING the film DSB, which is clearly Journey's most recognized hit and written long before Arnel was a glimmer in Fro-boy's eye, is too big a gift to bestow on their latest youtube find. It reeks of desperation to try to tie another product to the past in order to boost sales. If you like it, hey....that's great! Why didn't they use a current song title from their on-fire CD that Neal says is still selling like crazy? Yeah....rrright.

Show me where in my post that said I placed any blame on Arnel for this. You've got to be kidding. I think you went off half cocked prior to reading my post. On the other hand, I don't see any posts on his website saying that he thought it was a bad idea! I realize that Schon and Cain pull all the strings. If they can pimp the Arnel rags to riches story and tie DSB to it IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM......they will. That song sells, period. I have zero problem with his story being told.

Chill out.

+100000 they could have called it Revelation!!!

Sooooooo bitter. Last I heard Neal and Cain were part of that song, you know, the members of Journey.

Is it about Neal or Jon's life story?

The song title s being used for the story of their new frontman being hired by them. Apropos.
He never stopped believing, and at 40, to have this happen with Neal hiring him, genius title. Love it.

Why not try going to the Everymansjourney site and read about the movie, instead of going off half cocked? It might enlighten you. Arnel isn't trying to promote his two seconds trying to be anything. He was hired by the band to do what they hired him to do. The movie concept was not his idea either, so stop blaming him. Shit, I swear some people are just looking for a reason to down Arnel. I'm glad it bothers some people. It proves that Journey and Arnel are doing something.

It's the name of the story that I can't stomach.

Ok, you make more sense now. Read what I blued...that's where I came from with my statement.
Frankly, I'm a bit defensive because I see so many people who don't want to give him a chance, have never seen him live and even pass judgment because he's from a foreign country.

Get over yourself...some of us could care less about where AP came from....I gave it a chance as did alot of people here and some just don't think he is as good.....and for you to try and make it something that it is not ...well

Change For The Better, perhaps?

Only if the reaction they are hoping for is *up chuck*.

Great song, and the whole ending part especially. Even better live in concert.

There's a song called "Up Chuck"? Who knew...and they perform it live even? Hope they hand out trash bags to the audience!

If that's the case then I dedicate it to Neal and Jon as a sign of my appreciation.

I don't recall soliciting your opinion. And don't put fucking words in my mouth either. Trying to make what something that it's not? You know what, portland...I don't have a problem with you not liking the current Journey. I have a problem with you criticizing those who do like the current band / singer. Now go cook me some dinner or do something.......... ;)

Hey, sweetheart, on a lighter note, can you imagine us living under the same roof? I think we'd kill each other. 911 would have to be called every couple days.
