There was once a story linked here where some reviewer and evidently fans mistook Evolution for Journey...how dumb can you get?

These are casual people...so I understand Schon. these people will believe anything.

hmmm...I'd tend to imagine that could be where a lot of the current resentment started. Keeping in mind that the show in question was promoted by the fair promoters as a "Bamboozle" show with a "surprise act" which was never, ever named, even during their set. And it was impulsively covered by an AP writer who happened to be at the fairgrounds with his kid, and was so sure this was a Journey/Perry reunion that he even wrote about it. (You would think a writer would know the definition of "bamboozle"...but it sure sounds like a testament to the great show that Evolution puts on. : )

Repercussions? Just look at Evolutions' former website (www.journeyshow.com) and check out the new domain name. And the new logo.

And hypothetically speaking, do you think anyone owns the copyright to a scarab (even a poorly drawn one)?

I'm guessing that having his son share the bill with Evolution the day before Journey show's show this weekend (in the band's neck of the woods) might not have made his day...? C'mon, even at a private pot luck for diehard fans?

But it should be noted that this is a completely different Evolution...Hugo's band has a show in Long Island that same night.

So what's more fraudulant, some group pretending to be Journey with a Steve Perry lookalike or the real Journey using playback at their shows for a few years?

Or a band called Journey with a singer who emulates Steve Perry's every vocal nuance and tonal inflection as closely as possible?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKZfKy89ixU

I think it's all good, and Neal should focus on Journey. Hugo is not going to rob their limelight. Let it go.

The former. At least you were hearing a performance from the actual people in Journey. Augeri did actually sing the songs that people heard, it just wasn't at the specific time.

I just came home from Loggins and Messina. What a refreshing show. No filling it in with Kenny's greatest hits, just good, old school music.

Watching the River Run

House at Pooh Corner

You Could Break My Heart

Whiskey

Two of Us

Listen to a Country Song

Be Free

Peace of Mind

Changes

Angry Eyes

Travelin' Blues

Nobody But You

Danny's Song

Long Tail Cat

You Need a Man/Coming to You

Georgia On My Mind

Sailin' the Wind

I am steamed ... as far as I'm concerned it is NOT the highest form of flattery. Total Cheese ... and a rip off! F--k these guys and there management.

I don"t approve any of them... And completely disapprove of there very misleading flyers-posters.... I hate the fact that ( there) management watches were we are playing or were we are going to be and then books them accordingly . Need all your help to put out the word... Thanks Neal

The fact that these guys in particular use our art -work and Hugo, the fake Perry look a like is very deliberately trying to fool people into believing Perry is back with us.... Wrong and way tacky .....

Don't get me wrong but I do not have anything against tribute bands... but this is just F--king Bull Shit... at it best . Total RIP OFF!!!

Not a chance buddy...

That's what I'm saying John.... they are the worst conniving M-Fu--ers ever...

^^ (a reply to: Check them out: http://www.keytarmusic.com/escape.htm
These freaks even have a full engineering page complete with Backline, Input List and Stage Plot. How fuc*in ridiculous is that??
We love you Neal, and Arnel is our guy, most loved in Hawaii. No worries Brah, no body cares to see that other band anyway.)

Best thing to do is boycott and call them on it personally. Thanks 4 all the support... N

I am talking about the band that Hugo is in... sorry if I'm wrong..

Sorry but I don't condone anything from Hugo... needs to do his own music period...

neal got some issues

Yeah, with spelling. 8)
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I wonder what SP thinks for Hugo and this act??? I mean if anyone should be a little upset I would think it would be him.....is it not his stage presence that Hugo is emulating????

Oh wait......that would piss Neal off as well.....got it

Maybe on his own stuff....but for Journey? Sounds way to thin. When you are trying to cover the best singer ever, you gotta have pipes. Some people don't like Arnel, I can dig it...but he has something hugo doesn't....Power.

I can see Schons point but I don't think he has anything to worry about. Hugo looks like Perry...unless Arnel gets plastic surgery, nobody will mistake them.

Are we talking about looks or sound? There's no mistaking Hugo isn't Perry by sound.

But there's no mistaking that Arnel isn't Perry by both sound OR looks...and with respect to sound, that's not a good thing any more than it is with Hugo.

i gotta go with real journey using prerecorded vocals rather than live. i still can't believe they did that. how messed up is that? bamboozle, fraud, deceitful, shameful, dishonest, disappointing to say the least, i could go on.
