Just saw U2 a few weeks ago in Chicago. Sold out two nights at Soldier Field which holds 60,000 people. Let's see U2 pull that off with a Bono replacement. It can't and won't happen. Anrel is great, and he is everything that Journey needs right now. But his claim to fame is his ability to channel Steve Perry.

Bon Jovi sold out all 100 shows of their tour last year.

Queen sold out stadiums all around the world on their last tour with Paul Rogers. Even fucking Meatloaf sells out Wembley, and the guy doesn't have a voice anymore.

Unless your replacement singer is a legend like Queen had, you're going to be one step behind the big boys no matter how well your singer can mimic the original vocalist.

Journey gets so little respect. (Imagine picture of Rodney Dangerfield) But why did so many bands emulate them?

Because Steve Perry was a vocal god. Even Journey admits their priority is emulating his voice.
What did Cain say when they fired JSS?
"We're interested in our legacy right now. We want to sound like our records and we want to sound like the 65 million units that are out there."

And then Neal has the balls to say this tour;
"If you want something that sounds like the record, listen to the record."

Okay, glad to see Neal and Jon on the same page here.

Went to my local Wal-Mart and did something I said I wouldn't, come home empty handed. This freakin dork has to go get the manager and the dumb lady tried to sell me a bullshit story on how sometimes during the day of a release date, the shipments are usually a week late and to try back next week. I asked her about 4 times in a row if she was sure and that the release date was meant to be today and there should be stocks in the back. She said try back. At this point I'm in the red, and was this close to cause a scene, but I had enough respect to not embarrass my girlfriend who gave me the worry eyes of what I was about to do. I clinched my fist and walked out... then we proceeded to get dish soap, a Snickers bar, and hand creme. A failure. I am going to my other Wal Mart today and if they sell me the bullshit I'll just wait next week so I don't have to drive an hour out.

I got the same bullshit about Anderson out in Avon, OH. Guy refused to check the back stock for me. These days I've learned the best way to control my anger is to not get angry, so I just said thanks, turned around, and left.

I remember "Anderson Company" being thrown into my run in as well, but I was too livid to even listen since my mind was wonderin' on knocking over every showcase I could see. I called my 2nd WM in the area and they said they usually don't get new release's until Tuesday, and I told her about this whole mix up. She said if she finds it she'd put one back for me and call back later. Nice lady, but somethin' tells me she won't even look. What a lazy ass's. Wal Mart should be put out of business.

Update from yesterdays failed attempt to get the dvd.
I had an hour this am before i had to go into work. I called one of the walmarts i visited yesterday while i was on my there to save time. The lady who answered listened to the story about the mixup. Then she said she'd go look and for me to call back in ten minutes. I arrived at the store in five minutes and made my way to Electronics. I got to the kiosk by the register and opened the page showing the release date. All of a sudden i hear the people behind the register talking about the DVD and my call. This little twenty year old bitch said "Some guy called looking for some kind of Journey CD saying it was sent in the wrong box or something and that i should check the back for him. He should be calling back soon." Then a teenage boy working there replied "When he calls back just tell him you didnt find it." Then a MANAGER and another employee gathered around not three feet in front of me and continued talking about it and making fun of me for being so obsessive about it. So after a couple minutes of listening, i heard the girl comment that it was a CD again so i peaked over the kiosk and said actually its a DVD and that if she didn't go back and bring me the DVD i'd sue them and the store for descrimination and false advertisement!!!!!!!!!! Two minutes later she came back with the DVD and GAVE it to me. Yes GAVE it to me for free and apologized and said she'd pay for it herself. What a great end to a 36 hour "Journey" for this DVD. Too bad i have to work all day lol.

Dude! I just spent 7 times more than the chick in front of me. What about that isn't good for business?

Love it....asking for a product on the AFTERNOON of the release date is a "special request"

"special" indeed :)

I forgot to mention that the chick in front of me was the ONLY other customer trying to check out, and I actually let her go ahead of me. Plus... hell, she was buying a BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! In the ELECTRONICS DEPT!!! And I still let her go first because she was a lady and had a kid with her.

I think that's the reason they sell some of these products so cheap -- because they know that people who come in for those end up buying lots of other things in Wal-Mart. It's like bait! :)

YoungJRNY wrote:I remember "Anderson Company" being thrown into my run in as well

That's the 3rd-party company who stocks the music and handles the displays, and WM HQ told me this DVD is considered a "vendor managed product" Interesting that the green stickers on some of the time-dated boxes say specifically NOT to wait for the product rep to put them out. I never saw the actual box the DVDs came out, but am guessing that's the case.

Well said. It usually works out good when a well-known singer joins a well-known group like Van Halen or Queen. But if Karaoke Bob from a Stones tribute band replaces Mick Jagger when he retires from the Rolling Stones, I wouldn't expect them to fill stadiums anymore either.

Wow what a dvd! I was very impressed with the quality and production of the dvd. Finally Journey spent some money on a good production company and filming crew that do an awesome job with this show. The stage design and lighting is very good along with the many camera angles. By far the best quality dvd of the post perry era.

I felt I definitely got my money's worth. I understand the marketing angle. For $10 there is no reason not to get this. Even if you don't like it, you still get two coasters and great artwork.

Finally Journey spent some money on a good production company and filming crew that do an awesome job with this show. The stage design and lighting is very good along with the many camera angles. By far the best quality dvd of the post perry era.

As previously stated in this thread, I am impressed with the production as well. They went to a good amount of expense for this...especially for a DVD that sells for $10. Their hoping to recoup cost and add profit by volume, I guess.

 I lived in Georgia for 20 years and my sons and a brother and sister still live in Atlanta so I've seen what I described many times.
but hey numerous empty's on the porch can be seen elsewhere as well. I thought you didn't drink beer?
Just when i play music, i got a shed full of empty wine bottles that was classic. That whole rantdecribes me to a tee

I felt I definitely got my money's worth. I understand the marketing angle. For $10 there is no reason not to get this. Even if you don't like it, you still get two coasters and great artwork.

Oh I definetly agree! I would have easily paid at least 20 bucks for it, it is more than worth it.

Being an artist myself the first thing I look at is the cover art and Journey has had some outstanding artwork for their albums and logo over the years...and on this product as well.
