Excellent show in CT last night. Same setlist except no "Cold Gin". I'll be seeing them Monday night in Boston.
Paul's voice is fine. If you're there to analyze if every note Paul sings is at 100% then you might as well stay home.
The people at the sold out show last night had a blast.

I thought it was funny in the interview where Paul and Tommy are talking about the different tracks on the new CD that Paul said that people that find KISS "corny" are usually bitter, unsatisfied people.

Stanley actually makes a good point there. It wasn't, if I interpreted right, that he said people who necessarily find KISS corny, but the sort of positive, you can climb any mountain attitude in the SONGS corny we the bitter, unsatisfied folk. I'm inclined to agree with him.

KISS' 'Sonic Boom' To Top Next Week's U.S. Album Chart - Oct. 7, 2009

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, KISS' new album, "Sonic Boom", is on track to sell between 150,000 and 175,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, giving the masked rockers a beeline on their first chart-topping release ever.

KISS' new album, "Sonic Boom", was released in Europe on October 5 via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records. The CD is being made available in the U.S. and Canada on October 6 exclusively via Wal-Mart, Walmart.com and Sam's Club retail locations.

"Sonic Boom", produced by guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley in Los Angeles, is the centerpiece of a three-disc set that also features a completely re-recorded greatest hits CD (previously available in Japan) as well as a live DVD shot in Argentina during the band's recent, record-breaking KISS Alive 35 South American tour. The CD set is retailing for $12.

So not liking the Reuters interview with Stanley I read today. A couple of troubling items:

1- He indicated that "Delilah" will be the only new tune they'll play on tour. REALLY dissapointing, as I think a number of these new tunes would sound great live (particularly some of Gene's songs.)

2- He also indicated that the tour may not go past December. What about this so-called FAN ROUTED tour? Two cities in very close proximity to me finished in the top 30 of the fan votes and NEITHER are on the tour schedule. Makes me wonder, also, from seeing them on Letterman the other night if maybe his voice is going. The band was tight but vocally, he sounded like ass. Perhaps they want to cut things short??

The Fans don't want that.

I could give you a list of bands still around today that are trying to milk every last $$ from the 80's (and 70's) that look "retarded" now.

and by the way, only one member of KISS is in their 60's and that's Gene, who turned 60 in August.

Yea the makeup "sags" it's all wrinkly and creviced and looks terrible.

Use to be a HUGE Kiss fan when I was a kid but very few of their songs aged well for me... and in general everything about them has gotten on my nerves through the years except for Paul Stanley's voice which I always found excellent.

Seriously I thought their pinnacle was when they were out of makeup and did that unplugged concert - that was awesome and made me like Kiss again but as soon as they started trying to make believe it was the 70's again they lost me.

Every once in awhile it would be ok... kinda like throwback football uniforms, but a steady diet of it is just.... blech.

I also don't think David Bowie should dress like a woman anymore... nor do I think Ozzy should keep doing drugs. Some things just need to be let go man...

As to the "you sound jealous" comment, meh, the answer to that is that you couldn't pay me enough money to switch places with any one of those dudes.

No if I had to choose a talent - I'd want to write like Capote, or direct movies like Fellini, or compose music like Morricone. Those are the guys that make me jealous - not old glam metal dudes who dress like scary transvestite cartoon characters.

Do you have a link for the interview?

What I thought I read earlier was they were only doing Delilah for now because this was still the end of the Alive 35 Tour. And it sounded like it would/could then extend into the Sonic Boom tour.

I wonder if there has been a change in plans?

Kinda what I thought too, but here's an excerpt:

HOW MANY OF THE NEW SONGS WILL YOU PLAY ON THE TOUR?

... We'll play "Modern Day Delilah" because that's on the radio.

AND THAT'S IT?

That's it. Again, what do we take out? C'mon and Love Me? Love Gun? Shout It Out Loud? God of Thunder? Firehouse? Deuce? Strutter? What do we take out?

He mentions earlier that the ALIVE 35 will just sort of morph into SONIC BOOM.
Here's the link. You guys check it out- maybe I'm missing something.
http://kissasylum.com/Archives/News/200 ... Life.shtml

Then there's this comment, which I couldn't disagree MORE with:
EVERYONE KNOWS THOSE. BUT WOULD YOU GO DEEP, DEEP INTO THE CATALOG AND PLAY OBSCURE STUFF?

I'm a big believer that the reason certain songs are obscure is because they deserve to be. That's why they're obscure. They're obscure because the general public didn't embrace them. I remember going to see the Stones one night where the big draw was that they were playing the more obscure stuff. You sat there and went, I kinda know why this stuff's obscure. Let me hear "Honky Tonk Women," let me hear "Jumpin' Jack Flash." Let me hear "Start Me Up." Let me hear the stuff I wanna hear. This is the stuff that I skipped over on the album, why would I wanna pay to hear it now?

Yet he did MAGIC TOUCH, A MILLION TO ONE, etc on his solo tour...seems a bit of a contradiction to me.

Yet he did MAGIC TOUCH, A MILLION TO ONE, etc on his solo tour...seems a bit of a contradiction to me.

paul griped about being TRAPPED by the old songs because thats all ace and peter could play.. yet , this is all they play now..

nothing off of .. crazy nights, HITS, Revenge, COS, Psucko Circus, Asylum.. yet they play shock me and cold gin.. paul is

very complicated..
