Steve Perry wrote:"Though we've gone our separate ways, I will be forever grateful for our time together…the music we created…and our faithful fans," he writes. "Continued success to all of you."

Hmm. That sounds ever so much nicer than "fuck him" doesn't it?
At least someone has some tact and decency in his public statements.

True... but it makes you wonder, for conspiracy theory's sake![]()
Did he do this on his own or did Oprah's people track him down?
If on his own, why feel the need to say anything at all?
I really don't care either way. I'm just glad to hear something from him
even though it sounds like someting that could've been cut & pasted
from any of a number of interviews done over the past 10 years...

Not at all. Fuck him is more real.
What did you expect Perry to say? He had to say something nice plus it keeps his name out there. Why not stay quiet like he has done most of the past 13 years.

I swear it sounds like something he said when they were with Augeri that I remember reading or very close to it.![]()

Again though, this is most likely a result of the Orpah show approaching him, not the other way around with him wanting to "keep his name out there". If they approached him, and he gave a short, polite comment because he was asked, what's the big deal?
He could have easily said "Fuck Neal and Fuck Journey too", just like Neal did to him. But he didn't, he showed some tact (regardless of his private feelings about it, whatever those are), and because he did, he's accused of doing it for some self-serving purpose?![]()
This is such a stale and typical argument, every time the guy opens his mouth.
Seriously. Lame. We hear NOTHING from him, and people bitch to high hell that he doesn't make statements and we never hear from him... we DO hear something from him, and you all come out and tear apart whatever he says or assign reasons for why he might be saying it.
Make up your mind guys. You want him to speak or you don't?

I want him to keep his mouth shut. I've been clear on that. Whether he was asked or not is not the point. The point is, he in no way would've said something negative on such a high profile show.

Well, then my statement still stands. At least someone shows tact and decency.
Maybe Cyndy and Lora (or Steve!) should write Neal's public statements too.
Then he might not come off sounding like an immature douchebag.![]()
Again, even when it does seem that Neal has something very legit to voice a problem about, such as this recent tribute band business, he comes off like an angry child. He was asked about Perry and said "fuck him"? I mean really, is that necessary to do in public?![]()
I spoke with someone once who hasn't much knowledge about all the recent lead singer drama, tapes, and all the rest of it, (by which I mean impartial due to being oblivious to the whole Perry/Journey split, etc), and this person happened to have run across that GQ interview and read both parts, the Journey/Neal part as well as the Perry part, and her comment to me was, basically, "I couldn't believe what I read... Perry came off classy and had nothing bad to say and Neal comes in at the end of it and says "fuck him"? What a shithead!"![]()

Oh he was tracked down for sure. And BjGirl is right, Perry has tact, moxy and is a pure class act, while Schon continues to prove he is the equivalent of a filthy syphilitic rat turd.
