Does he come across better than Neal in a lot of interviews from years past? Absolutely. He has a way about him in interviews, a charisma and a way of sharing his thoughts on music that draws you in. The only place he didn't come across so great was VH1. Several places there where he came across arrogant to me, but still showed a great talent and passion.

Nobody in that band was a saint, so all good men in their own way.

For more than 10 years, the band struggled to find a singer who could recreate Steve's distinctive sound. "It's a tenor voice, with soul and emotion," guitarist Neal Schon says. After years of searching, Journey finally found its new lead singer. Not only has Arnel perfected that Steve Perry sound, he's also reignited the soul of a band whose journey had stalled.

Hmmmm, I thought they said this about Augeri too. Funny how this article totally leaves out Augeri like he did not exist.

Of course he existed but only for 8 years. Did you really expect Neal to acknowlegge him especially Augeri was using those tapes that Neal had no knowledge of.

Now what he should've said in his statement was...."Though we've gone our separate ways, I will be forever grateful for our time together…the music we created…and our faithful fans," he writes. "Continued success to all of you, but you fuckers wait till my new cd comes out, it's gonna blow you fucka's outta the water. I'll show you ALL that 'The Voice' is back and better than ever. Oh, and Fuck You Neal" :D

Not true at all...they'd take him back in a ny minute and send Arnel on the first plane back to Manila. Seriously. Throughout the entire Post-Perry period, there has been an open invitation for Perry to rejoin the group...

The band knows just how much of a huge payday it would be...even if it's a tour and sayonara.

Hmm. That sounds ever so much nicer than "fuck him" doesn't it?

At least someone has some tact and decency in his public statements.

The guy stole years of peoples' careers and broke up lineups. There's nothing for him to be bitter about. Nobody did anything to him!! Your logic is severely fucked up. It's like a rapist wishing his victim "good luck with the rest of your life" and someone calling him classy! He raped their careers and took from them one of very few things that you can't get back...time.

I'd agree with you on this, but he did nothing to damage their "Bad English" career did he?

Schon was on his way to having Journey being dropped because they werent selling in the 70's before Perry. If you look at it that way, Schon should be grateful for Perry extending Journey another 10 (20 years if you want to count TBF)

It's a 2-way street. Perry was "plucked" from a turkey farm by Herbie, someone that believed in him, when he had stopped believing in himself. No amount of success ever makes it excusable to do what he did.

Schon was free to continue the career crapfests called "Bad English" and the band he formed with Soto for 5 minutes (can't remember the name) Perry had nothing to do with those, just how Schon apparently likes it.

Honestly, this is a bit of a melodramatic response. He didn't ruin anyone's life. He fucked up a few times, yes, and sometimes he seriously fucked up, but that doesn't make him the devil incarnate. Not that he's an angel either... like so many people say, he's only human, just like the rest of them. Everyone in the band has their faults and weaknesses. We just see them more often and perhaps in a magnified light because they're in the public eye (even when they're trying not to be, in some cases).
