You been talking to Steve Perry?

Here they are, on Oprah for godsake... and they do Perry-era songs only? Any band that does a talk show, any band, might do one of their old songs, but plug the daylights out of their new stuff. Prime captive audience to listen to it.
So...why push the Greatest Hits CD, instead of Revelations? Confused. Or perhaps they did do a new one and it wasn't mentioned (or I didn't see it mentioned). Tell me I'm wrong here....

I bet Sony/BMG isn't complaining.
Gunbot wrote:Seriously, Oprah's target audience is at that age where they're already a Journey fan or they never liked them to begin with. Maybe a few will go log into the Itunes store after the show and download the greatest hits or something but I don't see this appearance being any bigger than their moment on the SB Pre-Game show or Ellen. They're not promoting a new album or upcoming tour. The show wasn't even about them exclusively but more the universal theme of not giving up. I think the big O was just draining the last bit of juice from that song before people get sick and tired of hearing it once and for all.
All the guys in the gay bars know it tosteveo777 wrote:JasonD wrote:mdaemon wrote:JasonD wrote:Blueskies wrote:mdaemon wrote:Blueskies wrote:larryfromnextdoor wrote:steveo777 wrote:The only thing black about my ass, for real, is the slacks I'm wearing today.

You've been talking to SteveW2. Damn him.
I was gonna say I thought SteveW2 was the only one that knows this.

Listening to Arnel's story again, I was struck by the similarities with AP and SP regarding the love, encouragement and inspiration they both received from their mothers and what a huge role both played in their lives.

Arnel did great on DSB. On Faithfully, he was flat on one of the money notes, but then went on to sing other, higher notes that weren't flat. I don't care if he stretches notes and changes the phrasing a bit. He's making it his own and that's cool with me. If I wanna hear the original, I'll throw on Frontiers. He was better than Celine Dion was on that show the last time she was on. She was terrible that day- and she gets a lot of respect for her voice from the music world. I didn't hear Arnel with any more gravel than usual. He's doing great.
I thought it was great that they talked about Perry so much. It was very cool of them to do that, they really didn't have to and it was a wise decision. Not so much regarding Augeri. They REALLY need to acknowledge his contributions to the band. I would think that they don't want to mention him because of all the other stuff that went down with him. So be it, but to their hardcore fans, they are stabbing him in the back.
Arnel really is the story here for this band today.
As I watched, I thought "If Journey does decide to hang it up, Arnel will be able to write his own ticket". The guy is a major friggin' talent no matter what people who want to dog him say. Nobody can take that away from the guy.

On another note, I'd be sick to hell of his story if I'm the other band members. How many times have they had to sit down and do the same interview about his upbringing and youtube discovery? Man that would get old.

2:55 - WOW!
Beautiful job there. But ya know, watching this.......I really feel for him, cuz there is no one on Gods green earth who is going to be able to sustain singing those songs like that for too long.

I really don't agree. Everyone knows what happened. They don't need to rehash it. Saying "We're sorry" really won't do anything.
They just need to let it go. HOWEVER- they also can't be saying stuff like what Ross (?) said about "Oh, those're just some crazed fans" or whatever.
They just need to say "It was a mistake. We don't want to talk about it".
MANY bands do what they got caught doing. Personally, I cannot believe they were so blatant about it. I mean, the tapedeck guy was onstage next to Deen for chrisakes... ugh, don't wanna go there.
They DO need to acknowledge that SA helped them for YEARS and deserves credit.

Anyone else notice how the audience cheered when they showed the many clips of Journey with Steve Perry?

WOW!!! --- Was I watching the same show? Arnel's singing this time around was so much better than how he sounded at the Super Bowl but singing aside, if you're talking about their physical appearance, I have to totally disagree. I was just going to post that for once Ross didn't look like one of the character's from the movie Dick Tracy, Jon was hot as ever & Neal looked like a brand new man!!! As for Deen--- I love the guy & I know he's probably still recooperating from his hospitalization last spring & so I can't say anything too bad about him. The only negative thing I have to mention regarding Deen is what's up with the hair? I wanna say, "Gimme 15 minutes with ya, bro, & I'll buzz cut ya to sumptin, sumptin the ladies would love to see."
