Since you obviously had not so nice comments about it and by your own admission don't care about it, why are you posting a thread about it then? Now that's hilarious!

Steve, you're a hard man to understand.

That's the understatement of the year!!! I don't get you sometimes, SteveW2. If you hate the band so much then why did you go to the VA show???? I can't help thinking something else is on your mind, but I promised myself I ain't gonna pry. You know I'm always here for you.

One of these days somebody is going to have to tell me what this means. I've heard it time & time again but I have to admit I don't know that part of the band’s history. I know virtually everything I think there is to know from roughly 1980 - 1986ish by way of my mom who still wants to believe Steve Perry is my “daddy.” I know about Journey's ROR era on my own b/c I lived it. I know nothing after that until Arnel Pineda joined the band. I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about JSS or Augeri. I was in a coma during that time frame.

I have asked people on this board to enlighten me as to how Neal "is a liar," & how he "screwed people over," but I get little in return. Nobody wants to --- or is allowed to -- talk about it & so all I can do is draw my opinion off of what I do know & that is how Steve strung the band along for a dozen years or so, then walked away from everything. The band limped along rather lackluster for a decade more with a couple of different singers that, for whatever reason, didn't work out. Arnel joined the band a couple of years ago which caused me to stand up & take notice yet again.

And so, in some ways I feel as if I’m totally out of the loop, not knowing all the drama & controversy that surrounds JSS, Augeri, & Hunsicker. Yet, in other ways I feel as if I’m more fortunate than the bulk of you b/c I entered into the “Arnel Age” with untarnished thoughts, a mind pure of the toxins many of you seem to bring to the table & void of the negativity & prejudice that seems to keep some from moving on.

To me, Neal is just an amazing guitarist. I don’t see a drunken womanizer. To me, Jon is a talented lyricist & keyboard player. I don’t see a lying prick who faked crying on Behind The Music. Sometimes I want to know what the rest of you seem to know & other times I don’t. Do I really want to risk having that ugliness cloud my enjoyment of an amazing band?

It's hard to say.

Speaking of going back to the Journey forum, my how times have changed!... from 2004:

Rockindeano wrote:
I agree that I think Neal bites his tongue, even in Behind the Music, and really wants to say what he truly believes...I KNOW Neal is pissed about the Perry episode, in which he was hurt, the delay in which it caused, the lost momentum(Trial by Fire), and the fact that EVEN today, Neal has to "connect" with Perry via attorney...Now that's fucking ridiculous. Perry needs to grow up up and talk to his former family of bandmates. Have I said I love Perry and his music and contributions?

Oh, and about Neal "insulting" Perry? Was Steve Perry an attendee at Neals' wedding??

Dean

Dean on the 01 Vegas DVD:

Rockindeano wrote:

They DID play Only the Young at Vegas, I was there. MOL was not played at the Vegas Indoor show, but yes, they opened with it on the following tour.

Only the Young is Augeris best song. Herbie even told Augee that "this is your song, dude."

I thought that DVD was the best sounding live show I have ever heard..from anyone!

Come on Jason, you dont know what really happened in the last 10 years?Shit they toured more in the last 10 years than they ever did with Perry all over the Us and Japan. Journeys been touring their ass off since 1998, Ive been to 18 concerts before Arnel became their idol.I ll give you a breif history, but it is all on here if you want to check it out. There was Journey before Opis

True. I have no idea what occurred between 1997 - 2007. Yes, I know there's a wealth of information right here at my fingertips. However, you gotta keep in mind that there are 213 pages to the Journey forum alone & each one of those pages has a couple dozen threads & each one of those threads has another umpteen pages attached & none of those ever stay on topic. And so, I did attempt to research some background on my own, but found it virtually impossible. I might start out in a thread that's entitled, "What Really Happened Between Journey And All Its Past Or Present Members" & the thread may veer off track so many times that I find myself reading excerpts of someone's latest crocheting project. On the other hand, (unbeknownst to me b/c I'm not looking in that area), another thread may be entitled "Grandma's Famous Apple Pie Recipe" & hidden deep beneath that innocent exterior lies the answer to all my questions. :?

Now, take everything I just wrote & couple that with the fact the everybody & their brother thinks they know the REAL story, & that only complicates matters further. I could read a super convincing post from someone claiming NS is to blame for any & all of Journey's "issues" & in the very next post someone else is as equally convincing that whatever happened was SP's fault.
