What's interesting about that? Another promoter got in trouble for advertising a Perry show that wasn't ever going to happen. The only thing remotely interesting is the line from Perry's lawyer about how Perry has no current plans to perform anywhere.

Seems like "Steve Perry non-news" to me.

Man, you know it's a bad day when you have to post this on your website:

"We got the following note just now from Steve Perry's lawyer."

I think Neal & Friga are behind this!
What better way to get ALL the fans on
Arnel's side than to fabricate Perry shows/tour plans
only to have Perry deny/cancel them all... kinds
like the TBF years... Makes Perry look washed up

but seriously, the most interesting thing I read
was the notion in the 2nd link I posted that
Perry has had some "work done" recently
on "The Voice"... That would be pretty cool...
A lot of other artists have done it, why not?

Actually the person who was posting that stuff had the names screwed up. It was Steven Tyler when he had his surgery done, I think last year. He gave permission for filming and it was used in a documentary.

In fact, Steve Perry has no plans to ever perform at that or any other location. He is not on tour and has no plans to ever go on tour.

Why is it so hard for anyone to find out who is perpetrating these hoaxes and legally fuck them up?

I can't understand how this keeps happening.

In April a fan posted a thread on melodicrock.com in connection with vocal teacher/ trainer Jeanie LoVetri who allegedly had not only seen a video of Perry's vocal folds, but claimed that Perry had given permission to his doctors to speak about his voice (the inference as I understand it being that Perry had recently had work done, possibly even surgery, and was at least 'back in training').
The thread was soon deleted/ retracted I'm pleased to say, as even allowing for any truth that may have been contained within, it was a truly bizarre episode and didn't exactly sit comfortably with doctor-patient confidentiality that would clearly exist.

There's also supposed to be this big lizard in a Loch in Scotland....
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I would imagine that SP's attorneys might be doing some investigating now. Happens once, meh...an inconvenience, but twice, this is looking more like a full out plan to defraud. Can we say Jail time?

I'm still in amazement that a pub or bar thinks they could book Perry and afford it... I don't think SP would charge a few hundred bucks to come out of retirement, ya know. And in what was it,.... Dallas of all places? No offense to anyone living in Dallas, but that doesn't make one iota of sense. It would be a much publicized tour, with plenty of very visible publicity, written and radio.

So my question is...how many pubs/bars were contacted? This one was dumb enough to fall for it, but how much effort has been put into this to get someone to buy the BS? How much money did this latest naive business owner lose?

Why Honolulu? Why Dallas? Who is next? If they got money (and it sounds like they probably did) they might try again.

That's what I thought might be a little interesting: "in fact, Steve Perry has no present plans to perform at that or any other location. I have to admit that I was shocked when I saw the promotional listing on Poor David's website. It was listed for less than a day. The only reason I noticed is my Rik Emmett show is booked there on November 20. I knew something was up because the venue holds around 350-400 people and I was wondering what kind of ticket prices they were going to need to charge.

I ran the office for a nightclub that could hold 500. Ticket prices were $20/night. Bands for us usually ran around $2000/K per night, wait staff, restaurant staff, food, insurance, security.. it goes fast. That's why it's damn near impossible unless he was doing a freebie or some marketing firm bellied up for this that it could happen at a small venue. Anyone that runs a venue like that should Know...

Interesting well written blog by Ross Muir I especially agree with this:

"Time for a little perspective...
I have had many conversations with friends, music fans, and a few musicians where I always make the point about never elevating any artists to 'Hero status' as that way lies madness - they are just flesh and blood like you and me, albeit they can bring a wonderful gift to a person's life and their music can enrich it immeasurably.
Separating the love of the music from the individual's who created it is the trick (a far wiser man than me once told me he felt this was clearly my strongest trait), but many can't, and that's the problem for those who put others on pedestals and who therefore also Hear, Speak, or See no evil, and who want to know everything about their heroes beyond the Big Top World and the records/ CD's.

I've met a few of these 'fans' and while some laughingly and happily admit to it, others refuse to see it in themselves, living in denial. The bottom line however is these artists share, or shared, their musical or artistic life with millions, but the rest of their life should be theirs and theirs alone - unless they choose to share further."
Grammar, the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit.
