"Kiss the Rain" - Billie Myers (I heard it while eating at Subway yesterday, great song which after some years I forgot about...it just so happens that the Subway I go to plays a cool selection of songs I haven't heard for awhile...music & a meatball sandwhich, can't beat that  )

And this one.....was the first "current" song I learned to jam on my guitar back in the early days. Back in those days I was playing a Hamer with a top of the line custom installed kahler tremolo. Custom because it had to be specially installed because the guitar didn't come with that type of tremolo and the guitar had to be cut so it would fit and work right. That fucker had some sweet action! Plus the Boss guitar pedals I purchased them back when they were made in Japan. They are made in ROK and I think Taiwan now. But anyways, I lost a lot of hearing jamming this song on my guitar hooked up to my rockman. This also happens to be my favorite Power Station tune as well. I think they may have only made one album, and pretty much was a short lived project maybe.

New Mexico is a cool state, beautiful scenery. I really enjoyed my visits there. I love green chili. Have you ever had pasole? It's a pork stew made with pork, hominy and green chili. At least that's they way the make it in New Mexico. Man, those people eat chili on everything. I remember going to this diner in Truth or Consequences and ordering a cheeseburger. The waitress asked me if I wanted red or green chili on it. I thought just a little like ketchup. When the waitress brought it to my table it was a cheeseburger with about a cup of red chili sauce poured over the top of the whole burger.

I have OD'ed this morning on listening to many of the songs posted by others the past in this thread. Wish I had more time to watch these forums, but....life goes on. Sorry, I don't have any puke, poop, or fart stories to tell about myself. I'm sure I'll come up with something eventually.... [/url]

For whatever reason I had always preferred the Power Station version, though I had seen the T-Rex version of it also. The Power Station version just seemed more aggressive to me and I liked it.

I've not heard this one for at least 15 years now. Listening to it tonight, reminds me of Hong Kong which was where I was when I heard this song for the first time back when it first came out. Funny because I remember the day precisely, I was also eating an ice cream filled Snicker's bar for the very first time, I don't think they were in the States yet at that time, but not sure. This song by Human League is probably the only tune by this band I ever really liked.

Human League - Human

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH2X5PolerA

And then about five years later again in Hong Kong I heard this song when it first came out. Reminds me of Hong Kong also when I hear it now for the first time in about 10 years.

Pet Shop Boys - This must be the place I've waited just to leave

How about this one? Always thought it was odd that they covered Willie Nelson. Turning melancholy into house music.

I thought that song turned out good the way they did it, much more up beat then the original slow version. I think it was in Tokyo out dancing with my girlfriend when I heard the PSB version of it for the first time. I thought it was cleverly done and fun to dance to.

Another song that was always fun to dance to back then in Tokyo and my then Japanese girlfriend used to really love it was

Sinitta - Toy Boy

The late 80's were so fun!

That's the way it is with most everyone I'm pretty sure. The younger generation who hears AP singing SP Journey songs for the first time will prefer AP singing them and the people who heard SP singing them first will prefer SP singing them and not AP.

That to me is what determines a good singer. I remember back in the 80's hearing AP singing a song live with the AMO Band that I never heard before because it was a brand new song. So hearing AP sing the song, I loved it. The woman I was seeing at that time went out and got me the album, I was thinking it was a new song by Elton John or something, and it turned out to be Boston's "Amanda" from Third Stage. I think they (AMO Band) were playing this song at least two full notes higher then the original though. AP's voice was like this incredibly fine piece of crystal just as clear and as powerful as could be. But for some odd reason, I actually preferred AP's voice on this song, simply because the first time I had heard this song before was AP singing it and not Boston. When that happens, you know the person is a great singer, and in this example it was AP doing "Amanda".
