Chill day

I've been lounging in a 4 star hotel for the last 36 hours. All 7 of us got our own rooms at 35€ each which is a pretty good deal. We played a fest gig this morning with Sepultura and Motorhead, it went pretty good, but was no where as incredible as yesterday at the Graspop Metal Fest.

Yesterday we preformed in front of 10,000 people, and it was one of the biggest adreneline rushes I've ever had. It will be a show that I will look back on when I'm a grandpa, and go "damn, we did that!". To make the day even more special, we got to see JOURNEY preform in all their glory. To sum up their performance in one word... Flawless. I laughed And even shed a tear during the set.

Wow, you know how you'll be watching TV and commercials will pop on suggesting a vacation spot? I'm sitting here watching CNN in the room, and a commercial for visiting Malaysia just came on, not something you see everyday.

I'm unsure if this has been posted somewhere but I found this link to download the whole Journey show. FLV file so it may not look/sound great.

You can use this one http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to play it

That should work. Basically, anything that will play a .flv file (a type of video file) will play it. Then, for those who really want to get advanced, find a program to rip the audio to a wav file, and burn onto cd. Then, you have one of the most rocking shows Journey has ever performed--and maybe one of the best shows they have done in the past 10 years.

I think they're the same files that are in MediaFire and Dropbox. I believe if you download from whichever link, they will still merge. I recommend Dropbox as I was able to download them completely

I loved this show when I watched it via livestreaming. I had given up hope of being able to get it. I can't wait to download it. And it also has Chain Reaction and One More on it, which I love those songs. They band tore it up that day.

Running it thru separators right now. But I tell ya, the original is really hard to beat. I honestly don't know how this was recorded live, but every single instrument is so clear and punctuated, that all the original mix needs is a few harmonic cleaners, and it's damned near perfect. On playback, just EQ like you want and let your crossovers & amps do the rest.

This is really, to say it again, just as good, if not better than the 'Captured' album. That, meaning that Captured was the best thing since sliced bread...back in '80.

Btw, most impressed by the drums. This mix has every single piece of thunder. The snare, although not as tight as I'd like it, is very raw & melodic...absolutely love it.

I've had it for a few months, actually. I kept hearing Graspop mentioned as something really special, so it's been in my stack of "to-view" stuff but I hadn't popped it in before until I saw the thread.

I'm pretty impressed with the huge sound and the apparently professional camera work and editing. Was it televised or something? But this copy must have been taken from streaming media, because it's a bit pixelated and weak on frames per second in places. Still perfectly watchable though and extremely cool to me -- kinda like watching an US Festival performance. And WOW! What a unique version of "Edge of the Blade!" Itust came on as I'm typing and had a very interesting and dramatic keyboard intro -- never heard it performed this way before!

Actually, Rip, when it was linked here at the time it was livestreaming it really got positive reviews from most on here. The download link now in this thread will take care of those problems you have re the being weak on frames I believe. Ask Arkansas.

I haven't downloaded it yet. Doing it tomorrow. I can't remember, from the livestream, if it was rough in places or not, but I've heard it was just like the livestream we viewed that day. The source/vid that that I just downloaded and linked, according to this thread, is as clear as being right there on stage. It's HD, apparently with a high refresh rate...everything is clean and moves well.

But what I'm dying to take into the lab is just the audio. Clipping is kinda hard to work with, because that was the original file. However, I think I can separate it enough, and lessen the volume peaks without toning it down or flattening it. I think what makes this show so hot, is the punchy crispness of every single instrument's "sonic universe" if you will. And you just can't isolate that from any recording. Something about this performance, clearly shows that the engineers and/or the software used had everything right on the edge of being over-done...which often comes through as a distorted mess. However, this is a lucky keeper because it's just short of being over-the-top.

Having the original live feeds would certainly be a gem. I hope the band, or someone, does something with it. If polished & produced just right, this could be the hottest rock show that Journey has ever done.
