Steve went off on his solo project (Street Talk) and did not return until 1986. So, he was with the band 5 years up thru the Frontiers album. I don't think I understand, though I've been called a dumb ass before But are you are saying that since SA had 8 years with the band and you count SP's 7 years with the band to be less, that he is less relevant to the band? Yet. These next albums will determine that. We haven't seen AP's contribution to writing or performances where the music is tailored to him. It could be amazing......or not. The product is not in yet so pretty hard to judge. He has breathed new life into the band and there can be no denying that.

Of course, not for big tours, and the BAND, who Neal and Jon co-wrote ALL the songs with Perry, or wrote (Faithfully), are proud of their music and it would always be the biggest part of them. They are still not a tribute band. This is THEIR music, too, and they can play it, and the crowds are loving Journey.

Tenure and contribution are two different things and I only brought it up because of this tribute band bullshit that keeps rearing up here. As a fan of old and new I'm simply not here to appease those who think SP is/was the be all and end all for this band. I'm not part of that ilk. Journey has lived on and were it not for the writing contributions of Cain and Schon there might not have been any songs for Perry to sing....or Augeri, Soto and Pineda for that matter.

Hey guys, stop arguing with the detractors. You're not gonna change their minds. Fortunately, they do not represent the mass Journey fan base. We're ok. My gauge is the show attendance and the way the crowds are just eating it up. Journey is doing it's best in over 13 years. What is ridiculous is people calling Journey a tribute band when it's tenure as a band triples Steve Perry's. Hell, Steve Augeri worked longer than Perry. (I don't consider being absent from the band 10 years tenure). But, loon away, if you must.

Journey of today rocks! Consider this; even while there was Perry there will still plenty of people who thought Journey sucked. I have a friend that was relieved that Journey was finally gone, or so he thought....til he heard about Arnel reviving them. He could never understand all the Journey love. He's the type that thinks Tool is the greatest band that ever lived.

I believe I read SP did over 600 shows (correct key?) and SA over 300? When you look at what later happened with SA's voice and all the accommodations made for AP's voice, would you say SP paid his dues completely in his actual tenure with the band?

Consider this: Some people say U2 sucks, but aren't they filling stadiums like over 60,000? Did I read that Perry with Journey too did that? Like you say the majority rules?
