Looks like Chicago's in the lead on the poll. I may not need to call Obama to have him petition Andrew to have the MR Fest in Chicago now.

I may have to make that call yet... maybe he can do better with Andrew than he did with the Olympic Committee. The big difference is that I'm sure the Wombat would take a bribe, whereas the Olympic Committee wouldn't.

Austin; it's a great city for live music; cool venues all over the place.

Regardless, if the 'Bat builds it, I will come. :D

Sorry , but I lived in West Vancouver twice, and I hated the fuckin weather the last time I was there, too much rain and dampness for the old arthritus, also, it's brutally expensive to fly across Canada. I'd rather go to the states.

Actually, I hope Chicago does NOT get it. If it's away I have an excuse not to go. If it's in my backyard, I'll have no excuse. Andrew, if you pick Chicago, can you ban me so I have an excuse.

Tito wrote:My two cents from the TIMRFC (Tito International Melodic Rock Fest Committee). Yes, this is on par with the IOC. I would rule out Detroit and New Orleans, because I do not want to get murdered or see anyone else get murdered. Toronto I would need a passport, so no good. Nice city though and potential favorite if not for the passport. Weak U.S. dollar also hurts this choice. The Canadian dollar is basically $1 for $1 with U.S. If it were .75 to $1 ratio, this would be the choice, but not now. South Bend was fun but I don't know if I would want to do it again, plus it is not a major city like the others on the list and this is a "big city" event. Vegas would be too cliche plus it is expensive as hell ($11 for a bottle of water...go fuck yourself). Although this would be a good draw both internationally and domestic for MR, so it may be worth it. That leaves the big 3, which sucks. Chicago's negatives would be too close to South Bend (for the we want something new crowd) and is probably a little weaker/less sexy than the other two remaining cities (although it is better than LA). The positive would be Andrew would probably have a lot of contacts in the area from his first show which could make things smoother. New York would be a draw and a good choice but L.A. would probably make the most financial sense since most of the artist reside out there (saving on travel and hotel expenses for Andrew). Plus, it is a tourist destination (for some reason). Also, it gives you the feel of a foreign country (yet still in the U.S.). Probably the best bet and most sense and gives me a legit excuse not to go...fuck that city and the whole state for that matter.

TIMRFC's rankings:
1. L.A.
2. N.Y.
3. Chicago
4. Vegas
5. Toronto (would be #1 if passport not needed and there was a strong U.S. dollar. Blame the neocons for both.)
6. South Bend
7. New Orleans
8. Detroit.

Nice to see a post where you make a lot of sense :D

Chicago is almost on par for musicians over LA....as it NYC, so it's an even call there. But I know Chicago and I know LA very well. I don't think I'd want to put on a show in LA.
