But, you guys do have a history of playing better and better as the season goes on, so we'll see. For now, you guys are looking up at the league's best until you show more poise and ability to close. Even our miserable team had chances in that fourth quarter that we didn't seize.

Sorry dude, but the Browns didn't deserve to share the same field as the Steelers Sunday. The Steelers are a team right now that shoots themselves in the foot and when things go bad, it's usually self inflicted rather than what the opposing team is doing. It certainly is fixable and if the points can match the stats of what we are doing on the field, then we will be a pretty damn good football team and I expect those little things to be corrected, esp turnovers. Willie Parker had a bad fumble, but Mendenhall's was just a bad omen. He was laying on his back for at least 3 seconds where the whistle should have sounded. When the Steelers fix up their fixable problems, look out. With the emergence of the passing game, the running game is starting to click and opposing teams will have to pick their poison against us.

you basically just said what I said just from a Steeler fan's perspective. You guys are good, you should be, the nucleus of the defending SB champs is there. But SO FAR, I don't think you guys have shown the form of other dominant teams so far, save maybe Denver who isn't as good as their record indicates.

I think it's time for the Steelers to be mentioned in the same sentence as New England and Indy. The Steelers are finally using their weapons and it shows we can do the same thing and be as dangerous as those two teams when we utilize our versatility.

I think the Steelers have a very good passing attack and Roethlisberger is MUCH improved in the passing game from what I've seen this season. I don't think the Steelers are on par with Indy, New England, or the Saints when it comes to the passing game and I suspect by the end of the season, that will prove to be the case. I know you feel otherwise, but Hines Ward isn't Randy Moss and he isn't Reggie Wayne. That's not a knock on the guy, because he's been a very good receiver and has had a very good career. I just don't rank him up there with the all time great receivers I've seen. Wayne has to do it for a bit longer before I put him in that class, but I think he has more raw talent than a guy like Ward ever had. I still think they have a much improved passing game, but it's really out of necessity. Aside from Mendenhall's one break-out game, the Steelers running game has been AWFUL, so they really have no choice but to pass the ball!

Of those who are interested, here is more on the case of the murder-suicide of Steve McNair.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Text messages between a woman and former NFL quarterback Steve McNair(notes) made in the hours before police say she shot him to death and turned the gun on herself support authorities’ contention that she was spiraling out of control.

Nashville police released the 50 text messages Monday night as part of a case summary and detailed the exchanges between the two hours before the July 4 murder-suicide.

Sahel Kazemi (sah-HEHL’ kah-ZEE’-mee) texted McNair on July 3 to say she was so stressed she might have a breakdown and asked for $2,000 to pay bills. One text said she might need to go to a hospital because she could hardly breathe.

Police say texts show McNair had someone transfer the money. The texts also show Kazemi meeting McNair at the Nashville condominium where he was shot. He asked her to leave the front door open for him.

Spokesman Don Aaron said he has been working to summarize the case for weeks and denied it was a response to a two-part report on CBS’ “The Early Show” questioning the original investigation.

“If anyone has information that needs to come to the attention of the police department, we’ll be happy to receive it as part of this investigation,” Aaron told The Associated Press. “But at this juncture, there has been nothing uncovered that suggests this is not a murder-suicide.”

The CBS report Monday interviewed friends portraying Kazemi as happy and showed that she had approximately $2,500 in her bank account at the time of her death.

Kazemi’s texts to McNair talk of her showing furniture she planned to sell to some people and how she was at a store “trying to fix” her phone. She wanted to pay bills before going to work. When she said she could hardly breathe, McNair asked if she wanted him to come over. She said she would take a nap.

McNair texted her that afternoon, saying he had someone transfer the money.

Kazemi later texted McNair three times asking to be with him that night. He said he was having trouble getting his sons to sleep. But at that time, McNair was seen at a restaurant with friends. Kazemi texted she was going to his condo. He texted back at 12:38 a.m. that he was on his way and asked her to open the front door at 12:52 a.m. Kazemi told him at 1:14 a.m. it was open.

The last text was at 2:23 with Kazemi saying, “I am going to the store.” But police say the message received by McNair’s phone seemed oddly placed in the stream of messages and out of synch. A T-Mobile specialist told police it could be a service or technical problem that caused a delay in the delivery of the message.

The summary also details how police checked video footage from businesses in the area and found a law firm camera caught the backside of the condo where their bodies were found later July 4. The footage did not show any suspicious activity or departure in the early hours of that morning.

Police also list the shift manager at the restaurant where Kazemi worked who told officers something seemed to be bothering Kazemi on July 3. Sonya New said she asked Kazemi if everything was all right when the server told her of her DUI arrest on July 2. The manager also knew of Kazemi’s roommate moving and asked about McNair’s divorce.

“And she (Kazemi) just rolled her eyes. New said at the end of the conversation, Kazemi said, “My life is just (awful) and I should end it.”

Business was slow that night when Kazemi asked if she could leave early. She clocked out at 10:07 p.m.

The summary also includes new information from the woman Kazemi followed from McNair’s condo, suspicious that he was involved with someone else.

Police also say Leah Ignagni confirmed she was dating McNair and recalled seeing a woman in a black Cadillac Escalade parked outside his condo two or three weeks before his murder. Ignagni saw the woman follow her and later saw the Escalade circling her block or parked outside her apartment a week or two later. A 2007 black Escalade was co-registered both to Kazemi and McNair.

Ignagni told police McNair visited her around 4 a.m. on July 2—a couple hours after Kazemi’s arrest—to tell her “Jenni” had been arrested for DUI. McNair then spent the night of July 2 at Ignagni’s apartment but left early July 3.

The report also includes details from the crime scene that blood stains showed Kazemi’s upper body was in McNair’s lap before sliding to the floor. Police also found the gun under Kazemi’s head with an impression in the carpet the summary said indicates neither the gun nor Kazemi’s body was moved before officers arrived.

Even though murder is never the answer and this truly was a tragedy, McNair, who should understand the caution of being a public figure in the eyes of success, should of had a pre-caution conscious with his actions. Not only was he cheating on his wife, but he was also cheating on his loony, whacked out, physco 19 year old girlfriend. By the way these freaks work in today's society, McNair should of been content with taking care of his family and leaving the nightlight of being a bachelor behind him. It's sad it came down to what it came down to.

Yes...I actually did see this. Absolute cheap shot that there is no defense to. The dude on Tampa called for a fair catch and got completely run over while defenseless. The guy who hit him will have a nice fine coming his way along with a suspension and deserves both!

In all honesty, and I know nobody will agree, I think it was an accident...I don't think the tackler knew it was a fair catch and I think he was trying to anticipate/time the catch to his hit...either way, the receiver got his bell rung and it certainly looks (on the surface) like it was intentional...I don't think the receiver would have argued w/ the ref if it was purpose...I also don't think he should have been ejected...sit him down for a while, but no need to eject him...he has no history of malicious hits or late-hit calls...I think it was an accident (the timing of it)...but like I said, nobody is going to agree w/ me.

As an outside NFL fan looking in, I love this move and thought it was pretty slick of Fisher to do such a thing. But when I think more and more of it, if I were a fan of the team, or if I was apart of the team, I'd feel not only humiliated, but stabbed in the back. With this tactic, Fisher, the most respectable head coach in the game and longest tenured coach with one team in the league, let his players down and pretty much quit on them. Not only this, but he dawned a Peyton Manning jersey, who tore his team apart throughout his career, and is a rival within the division.

This has betrayed written all over it to not only the organization, but to himself, the city, and to the fans. A huge slap in the face. You're supposed to be an army of one, and it starts with the head coach. It's his job to keep them together and should be the first one to stay on and go down with the ship. With this, not only will his team look at him differently, but they will not play hard for him from here on out. He probably lost all respect in that locker room, where it matter the most and I wouldn't blame anybody for losing the respect. I'm a prideful man, and I loved the passion that Fisher brings to the sport and to his team, so I am disappointed he did such a thing and acted in this manner.

Denver pulled it out last night, thanks to a defensive FURRY in the second half. Denver is becoming the best team in the league at halftime adjustments. They were getting picked apart all first half but stiffened up the 3rd and esp the 4th qrt. They are for real, but I expect them to drop some since they have a TOUGH remaining schedule which includes Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, New England, Giants, and S.D again. They have that feel of last years Titans, steaming ahead early in the season and playing mistake free football, but I feel they will weaken towards the post season. Still their D is for real for the time being and they will face some tougher tests in the next couple weeks. It's a slow morning, so I'm going to round off my power rankings (top 10) just for the hell of it.

You should see the rest of the house. I have a couple Steelers helmets signed throughout and dedicate most of the house that I mostly spend in with dedication. My mom insists she'll "Never buy another thing Black and Gold" again because of me and my dad, but she has no say.

As for crushing Favre, Favre is now playing like the legend he is set out to be and it will be tough to contain him. He struggles against the 3-4 and the Steelers could get pressure. My opinion in a defensive struggle to which I think it might be for the most part, is time of possesion. If the Steelers can keep Favre and Peterson off the field, then they should come away with a W, but this will be a TOUGH match and will say alot about what both teams have. Looking forward to it.

Agree, Brett is an awesome QB having watched his play for 16 years (as well as primadonna behavior) but I really don't think that his arm is 100% - sure looks like it during the game but in some interviews he even questions whether he will make it through the season. He's awfully tough but if he re-injures that biceps, he's out for the season. Peterson was stopped pretty effectively last week, so he's not invincible either. Sorry to say, I haven't watched alot of Pittsburgh games so I don't know as much about them but their D looks pretty good against the run. Unfortunately, the Packer game is not on local TV here because the Vikings are on so I guess I'll see Pittsburgh this weekend!

On a related note. I'd like to see penalties where the guy doing the deed is out for as long as the injured player is out. If the injured player is hurt so bad he misses a year(see Tom Brady), then the infractor is out for just as long. Fuck monetary punishments! What's 15,000 to a player that makes 8 million?

There is no way they could ever have a rule even close to this - there is way too much gray area between what's intentional and unintentional as far as brutal hits and hits leading to injuries are concerned. I hope you're being facetious.
