Comiskey Park '78 or '79 (I never knew for sure) bootleg...

Postby fredinator » Mon Oct 26, 2009 10:47 am

Sallee (ClassicRockLdy) posted these songs about 3 years ago and fell in love with Neal's playing... Actually the combination of SP's voice and Neal's guitar are superb on these tracks--I can't say enough about them--I feel transported every time I listen to them... Hope you all enjoy:

P.S. Thanks ever so much again Sallee for putting these up... (Also, I hope this works; I've never done this before--they are on MegaUpload.)

Looks to be '79. There's some Evolution tracks on there.

Thx for sharing!

Quality is fantastic. Not sure if this would considered a boot. My guess is that it was taped professionally from the boards, possibly for a radio broadcast?

I thought it might have come from a King Biscuit Flour Hour show but I'm not sure.. The sound quality is excellent and at the end of Opened The Door I recognized the woman's voice from some past radio show but ?. Maybe somebody out there knows like Rick or Sallee?

These are my absolute favorite Journey tracks.

Ooooh, thank-you both - this is better than the copy I had! SP's voice - so divine, especially on "Patiently" my fave version. :)

I think I love Daydream on here more than Patiently! The awesome thing is you can hear everyone--including Ross. There's all kinds of great noise going on in the background of all these clips.

I miss Rolie **weeping emoticon with tissue here**!

You sure? Super Jam '77 was Journey too. Now maybe there was a Super Jam '79 that had Jrny too, IDK.

The boot being asked about is definitely '79 as I just burned a copy for someone the other day. I am sure it is '79.

Yep, I have the same version of Patiently/Opened the Door on another CD. OTD ends with a tag from Perry saying something like "Hi this is Steve Perry of Journey and you're listening to 'Super Jam' on this radio station.'" I forget exactly what he said because I have that version on my computer at my shop. But I played it earlier just before I replied to this thread. I took it as 'Super Jam' being a radio show that played live concerts(a la King Biscuit) rather than an actual event. But I know what you're referring to with the '77 show.

Hey, how was the Springsteen Spectrum show?

And then this:

"Journey Boots Listing
Well... this thread is not so much a request as something I've noticed and want to address. We've been getting requests by newer members who are Journey fans asking for certain shows to be reposted. Many of these shows were posted 3,6,12 months ago and obviously links have expired.... so... no download...

I was in your shoes at one time... I know the feeling of wanting to hear these shows but for the life of me didn't know where to start to find them. We all started at "-0-" shows at one time so you have to start somewhere.

Kind individuals have shared their shows with me in the past and more continue to do so (of course I'm speaking of our great community of Journey fans here ) and I'm always more than happy to oblige sharing shows as I can. Below is my listing of Journey shows collected from other sites and from here too. It's not a huge list by any means but there are some great shows to pop into an i-pod and listen to. I've tried posting everything on this list for download here in G101 that hasn't already been posted here, many are common that most of us have but maybe there are a few in here that haven't yet shown up and I'll continue to repost any of these as requests are made in this thread. If you see something you'd like to hear or need reposted, this would be a good thread to make your request so I can fill it...

Exception: There are 2 Retail DVD releases of shows below and these are marked. A big no-no sharing these so sorry on those... let's all stay safe.....

Here is my current list of just Journey Boots:

Thanks, Fred. I've been able to listen to about half. Fantastic. Winds of March, perfection, the way it's such pure vocals by Steve and then Neal tears into a solo and back to Steve's haunting ending. I love these live clips with the audience reaction.
