....best bench in the league, outscoring 76ers regulars last night. Holding opponents under 90 pts in last 5 games.

With the additions of Sheldon Williams, Rasheed Wallace, Marquis Daniels, and Lester Hudson, and a now healthy KG.....C's look like the unbeatable juggernaut they would have been last year with a healthy KG....

So...you can have your Penguins.

You can fawn over your New Yawk Yankees.....

And you can even wax poetic about your N'awlins Saints and your Indy Colts......

The Celtics are doin just fine.....

I think they're trying to send a message to NBA that Cavs are not the cream of the crop in the east with Shaq-Lebron duo.

You guys are in scary good form right now. But you were at the start of the last season too, so time will tell if your older bodied stars can keep it up over 82 and playoffs. I sure hope so, because a Cavs-Celtics EC Finals clash would be epic assuming the Cavs can hold up their end of the deal as well. Nobody wants to see the Magic and their worthless fans on the big stage again

They aren't right now, and honestly, I hope we are in the running for 2-3 seed (no lower) all year long. The hype went to their heads last year and I'd rather them have something to prove in the playoffs. They were pre-ordained to at least get to the finals and it cost them dearly.

The NBA and the Cavs owner put too much pressure on Lebron last season to get into Finals. However, they did a pretty good job on the first and second round of the EC playoff (I think they were unbeaten), but choked when they played against the Magic in the EC finals. I think the maturity and leadership of Lebron as a player is not there yet and he needs to accept the fact that winning in the NBA is not that easy to obtain especially a lack of team experience in the playoff. Shit, he just left the floor when the Magic beat them and never congratulated the opposing players, plus he was AWOL in the press conference.

Lebron is a good and solid player but his sidekicks are the real problem. With the addition of Shaq, he’s still trying to fit in with the team right now but the chemistry isn’t there yet. Give ‘em plenty of playing time and Cavs will be fine. I know Shaq is older and slower but he can still grab that 10 rebounds per game and can still play a solid defense. I know the NBA is eager to see Cavs and the Lakers in the finals, but that ain’t easy because the Celts and the Magic are still the beast in the East, and teams in the West are scary too.

I’m looking forward to watch them played against my beloved Lakers on Christmas Day.

The reason they played so horribly in the EC finals is because it had been too easy for them up to that point - enter my desire to see them have a tougher road this season. Trust me, when you play sports, it's very hard to play terrible competition, have time off, and then show up against someone's that come to play. Dan Gilbert had nothing to do with pressuring LeBron and the Cavs... that's an empty claim. I do think the NBA (MVPuppets anyone?) and the press preordained the Cavs-Lakers final and it got into our guys' heads, making them overly cocky and subsequently wobbly in the face of a hot team in the Magic.

LeBron's sidekicks are fine. He needs to lead more, as you say. The chemistry looked fine last night against a playoff team in the Wizards. I'm not worried at all, save for Delonte's pending legal and mental problems.

This NBA season is gonna be exciting as hell, that's for sure!

LA is heads and shoulders better than Boston, and have rings to prove it. Besides, who gives a shit about that corrupt fixed league anyways?

Using your logic:

Montreal Canadiens are better than the Penguins this year because they have more overall Stanley Cups than Pitt.

and the last time I looked, Boston had more banners than L.A., overall.

It's WAY too early to annoint anyone as the champions in waiting. I will say this...The Celtics are a MUCH improved team over last season and they won 62 games last season with Garnett missing a whopping 25 games! Their bench is scary good. I do think Cleveland will be heard from before the season is over and into the playoffs. I'm not someone who fears Shaquille, even a little. The guy can't get out of his own way and can't play a lick of defense. I suspect that he'll be coming off the bench by the end of the season. Also, by the time the playoffs roll around, I suspect that he'll be one, old, tired dude! In my opinion, this incarnation of the Celtics shouldn't have much trouble with any team in the east, including Cleveland. That said, it's still VERY early, and anything can happen. If Rondo goes down (he's more important than Garnett), the Celtics are done. If LeBron goes down, Cleveland wouldn't even be a playoff team!

Rings to prove what? The rings that present members of the Lakers have won are no more relevant than the 17 championship banners hanging in the rafters at the Garden are! I certainly think the Lakers have a good team and will probably come out of the West. That said, anyone who thinks they're automatically better than the Celtics are isn't watching much basketball!

First round should go back to best of 5 for sure. Other than that, this league is as electric as it's ever been. There is so much star power spread across a lot of teams that it's almost sick. The post-MJ pre-Kobe/LeBron era was a dark age indeed for the league as a whole (not to say there weren't great players playing then too, but as a whole it was bad). Now, the NBA is an awesome league athletically and talent-wise. If you want to talk about the ref scandals or players' off the court problems, fine, but by that logic, I hope you aren't a fan of any pro and most college sports... at least as far as the "thug" aspect goes.

only SOME teams... By January you can pretty much know the 16 teams in the playoffs... I would love to see the playoff teams lowered to about 12... but know it cant happen...
6 in each league would be much better system...and still first round best of three would work, then 2nd round best of 5 and then best of 7 for the rest of the playoffs... the first two rounds suck because they give teams way too many days off...

I think you know that I respect the hell out of you as a sports fan Dean. If you saw my earlier post, I stated that it is WAY too fucking early to annoint anyone as the champions. Also...being the "reigning champs" means absolutely fucking nothing, and you know that. The Celtics were the reigning champs coming into last season and that guaranteed tham absolutely NOTHING! The Lakers are a VERY good team and in my opinion only one of two teams who has ANY shot at all of coming out of the west. If I had to lay down money right now, it will be Boston versus L.A. in the finals.

Allen hasn't gotten off yet this year, and they still find ways to win....last night was a nailbiter, though.
