Neal didn't create shit..

Other that some legendary guitar work. Neal was/is 1/6th of a band that collectively made great music... yes I said 1/6th... because that "6th" member was Herbie... even the band called him "the 6th member"...for a reason... they make the music happen, and Herbie made everything else happen...

And if I remember correctly... Journey was Herbie's idea... not Neals...

It was only after Herbie was pushed out, that the Journey came to a screeching halt.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Six pages already! I do not know, but I have experience to speculate that Arnel probably started out under an employment contract with the LLC (if an LLC exists, as Jeremey indicated). Arnel would likely have to prove his value to the band before they would allow him a membership interest in the LLC. Now that Arnel has contributed substantially to the success of Journey, his lawyers have likely negotiated a membership interest, but I highly doubt Arnel's interest is as much as the others. So, yeah, no "contract" as that term is used, but LLC's have operating agreements, and so it isn't like there isn't a written agreement. I would think that as Arnel continues with Journey that he will command a larger interest in the LLC. Sort of like when Perry became the VOICE of Journey, he got so powerful in the control of Journey because he held ALL the cards. "he had the reins, and they let him run with it." More like he had everyone's balls and they didn't flinch for fear of losing him and all the success they were having with him. Arnel may end up commanding the same kind of control once he figures out he has the reins too. As for Perry, I speculate that he would have done just about anything to get out of his contract with Sony.
He has the exact date of his contract release at the tip of his tongue, that is how much it meant to him to get out of that. I don't think he will ever get himself into another contract without a clear out. When you are young, and in those days, wow, sign me up. Lots of young talent have done that same thing and have found themselves in servitude to contracts they didn't really realize would impact their life so much. I can't imagine Perry signing a non-compete to get out of the contract, especially if Lora confirmed that it didn't happen (I never saw that post). It was most likely a negotiated settlement on percent of rights, Perry giving up a lot to just get out of his contract with Sony. Much like a divorce, everyone leaves with less than they hoped for, but at least it isn't protracted litigation for the rest of your life. I do not think that Perry's failure to release a CD in all these years has anything to do with the settlement terms.

I doubt Arnel will ever have the reins and certainly not like SP did. Somehow I think Neal and the band would rather go on the road as Bad English with a new lead singer (as long as they don't have to play 'When I See You Smile') than go through another power shift like that in Journey. Steve could take the reins because he was the voice of Journey, the band was at the height of its popularity with no end in sight and he was a principle songwriter with Jon and Neal. The circumstances are so different now and the speculation is that the next album could be the last anyway.

What character trait has Arnel demonstrated to give you the impression that he would be willing, and more over, even capable of pulling a Perry in terms of control? The guy can't even stop singing Karaoke for God sake. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING he has shown has come close to demonstrating that he has the slightest ability to exert more control over anything. He looks like a kid in the candy store waiting for his mom and dad to tell him what he can buy, and when he has to leave. That is not a knock on him. It's just a realization that I think this guy is profoundly happy doing what he is doing, and nothing more.

I so wish I were going to be there...I'd show you around myself!!
The only time I'm ever in Detroit anymore is to visit family, land, takeoff, attend a concert
or some sort of sporting event. Greektown & MGM are great!!

There are people here who actually live there and are more informed than I!!!

Character trait! He is represented by competent legal counsel. He already owns a membership share of the LLC maybe. He's a survivor and should not be underestimated. Being humble doesn't mean he's stupid and his lawyer is already getting him his due. From employment contract to part owner. Not bad for a kid in a candy store.
