NFL experts please chime in...

Postby S2M » Tue Nov 10, 2009 4:33 am

Can someone explain to me why New England vs. Indianapolis is always in Indy? Is there a rule that I'm not aware of? Does it go by record? Is there a Bill polian rule? Biggest whiner gets homefield? Perhaps this doesn't deserve a thread, but fuck it.

Haha, I am far from an NFL expert. Just wanted to get that out of the way! I'm just a fan of the game. Football is probably the sport I know the least about. I even know a lot more about baseball, which I abhor. I wasn't even aware they always played in Indy.

You don't have to be an expert to check the records. Since the 2001 season Indy and NE have played each other 8 times during the regular season (including next weekend's game). Four of those games were in Indy, four were in NE. No whining, no favoritism.

the formula...

(A+B) - (C x D) + (Y/Z) x 1000 x (G+F) - (1/2 x 1/4) x( 1000-2000) = indy vs Pats on NBC

I think it's been fairly even in terms of where the games have been played. On another note, I see the Patriots either losing against the Colts or New Orleans in the next couple of weeks. I'm fairly convinced that they'll hand one of these teams their first loss. Right now, I'm leaning toward the Patriots upsetting the Colts in a very close game on Sunday night.[/list]

there was a time during the 90s that the Packes always played the Cowboys at Dallas... (or so it seemed) and usually after being on the road for two weeks in row.

I agree, John. BUT, being a New England fan, you must know that the biggest flaw the Patriots have had with Indy is coming up with a gameplan for the TE position. I fully expect Dallas Clark to run rampant in the middle of the field, and in the flat. I'm not afraid of Addai, and I'm not afraid of Peyton. If Bill has finally figured out a plan for Clark, I see a blowout.

Secondly, I'm not afraid of Brees. Side note: The Pats secondary has a huge flaw. giving the opposing receivers too much cushion, especially on possession downs. (read: 3rd and long). TE gameplanning, and 3rd and long have killed us like forever. If your D-line is getting pressure on opposing QB...play up, jump the route....don't give a 5-yard cushion on 3rd a 3, cause you know a quick dump off is coming before the receiver has even turned around(and you can't defend that).

I don't know....just some things I've noticed. :?

somehow, networks make more money having the game more times in Indy.. EVERYTHING is about money..

is the same reason why the Cowboys always play Thanksgiving day. It has to be a team that people will

drop everything to watch. .. Either because you love them  . .or love to see them get beat...

Dude...given that the Detroit Lions also play EVERY Thanksgiving, I think your theory needs a whole lot of work. Not even people in Detroit are dropping everything to watch that team...and that's been the case for MANY years!

I'm almost positve the NFL does its scheduling based on a "formula." Each divisional opponent twice and the rest some "formulaic' way.

Besides my Dallas Clark expose above....I have one more question for the experts:

How can there be pass Interference on an offensive player that wasn't even involved in the play? Folks, this one is driving me absolutely bonkers. It happened in yesterdays Miami - NE game.... :? :?

Why is it not nice when you've said to me many times "it's all about the green stuff" (money) for you. In fact you just said it again when you called me on the phone a few nights ago. :?
Seriously, Larry....why do you talk to me away from this forum yet on this forum you've acted like I'm a stalker bugging you and sometimes even said some jackass things as you did in another thread today? Why do you do that? :? Do you think it's makes you "cool for school" here or something??

I'm really starting to think that you must have a huge crush on him. You have no idea what we have said to each other in our conversations. I talked to this man every single day in message and many times on the phone over a few years period of time and he stated that it was all about money to me again on the phone just a few nights ago...and hes said it many times before....so how is saying that it's all about money to him being mean when he says it all the time? FYI...I just intended to rib him back a little since he does it to me a lot! Have you spoken to him in private as much as I have? Do you actually know him well? Close friends? I don't think so since he tells me he raraly talks to anyone from this board off of it other then me. ...so why do you butt into something between me and him when you don't know what you're talking about? He knows I was joking with him.....he just likes to play these little games with me.

Maybe becuase you keep dragging yours and his personal business onto the board. You're opening season on yourself by doing that. It comes on the board and people are bound to say things. If this stayed private between you two, no one would be able to say anything. Just saying.

You and Rhi are friends....you joke and tease each other all the time and many times its a joke or even a conversation between you two solely so how is my talking to Larry any different? What " personal business"? That we talk???? Larry liking money and being a tightwad is also public knowledge...he has mentioned it "publically" many times. I guess it has been wrong for Joepa to tease him about it too, then.
