Incorrect. According to the Bible, God hates all sin not just homosexuality and not the sinner themselves.

1 Cor. 6:9-10,

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Uh-oh, the Plokkers are in trouble b/c of their "idol" Arnel. And the Loons are in huge trouble; they're coveting Perry way too much. They won't be inheriting the kingdom of God.

No. It IS correct.

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved. When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving. They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. (Romans 1:24-32 NLT)

Neither quotes prove your point that "God hates homosexuals.

Leviticus is a record of the Jewish laws for the Israelites. I'm sure there were similar punishments for other things.

The 2nd quote doesn't prove that "God hates homosexuals and demands that they suffer". It describes the nature of that particular sin.

Check the quote above from Douglas Wilson. If God doesn't exist, why bother debating the validity of a book that purports to be God's word? Too much pizza last night? :)

Steve Pereira ? It's mr. Kittens. More rarely: Nostrildamus. Though my personal favorite is: Nosemort.

And I don't get why someone had to start a religious debate. That's like putting some lipstick and some cute pig tails on a retarded person - the outcome will always be ugly, no matter what.

It's not really blaming 'God' It's more like blaming humanity to make up such a figure to insult our intelligence! And people believe it, just like they believed that Charlie Manson was Jesus himself. What does that say about us as a species? Gullible? :?

I can totally understand the idea that a larger being sparked the Big Bang or some other beginning to the universe. Totally plausible imo, although I would argue that it didn't have to be an omnipotent and immortal being, just one capable of creating an environment like the known universe. It's the micromanaging God concept that I just can't accept. I firmly believe that there are other planets out there with other sentient life, and the idea that God ultimately gives a fuck about every little thing every person does on Earth is imo human arrogance.

I always liked that Epicurus argument:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

We have responsibility for making decisions and their intended and uninteded consequences. Apply that to thousands of years and you have our present state.

Did slave traders intend for America to be riddled with gangs shooting innocents on street corners? I doubt they looked past lining their pockets.

How can you exert your will if you're stopped from doing and believing what you want? I don't see how you or anyone else is being micromanaged.

Which is why I think the Epicurean Argument is bullshit. It totally ignores free will. To take that thing seriously, accountability must be wholly discharged. All it does it argue a loophole for irresponsibility. Which leads us right back to your line in bold—which I am in total agreement with.

I guess those who wish not to beleive in God, won't. And those of us who beleive will. To call me foolish because I beleive in what cannot be seen, is to me as silly as beleiving a big explosion created this world, symbiotic relationships and all. And how well things work..........together.

As an artist I find affirmation in God in the complexity of a blade of grass. To see the wonders of this world, to study them closely, to stand in awe of their marvels.............seems to well designed to be just accidental to me. Look at a baby....how beautiful and marvelous just the wonder of birth, and giving life. As a mother I was in awe though I was the one giving birth!

I find Him healing to my heart when I am sad or alone, and a treasure to my soal during my highest points in life. He always answers my prayers when I am in truest of need, and sent Daniel to me when my ex broke my heart.

When I needed a job, I received one, and in times when I did not know where my next meal was coming from, he has always provided.

I try and be sure just to ask for what I truely need no more. I try to ask for others in need, more than for myself. For one who does not exhist, he has done quite well by me. So I plan on having his back, since He has aways carried the burdons of mine. :D

Total and Utter Bullshit. You obviously don't know any atheists. Atheists recognise that they, and they alone, are responsible for the consequences of their actions. On the other hand, I know quite a few utter bastards who do the most contemptable things and justify it because their God and their religion tell them it's ok; they are not at fault, it's God's will.

In defense of some Atheists I know, many have strong moral fiber. And yes, one can claim to be Christian and be far from it. I just find it stupid to stereotype, or to put any group of people in a nutshell. Ari is fine in my book, and so is Bluejeangirl. :D

Sure I do. Wow, you took that personally, huh?

FYI, "religion" and "faith" are not necessarily the same. "Many individuals" describes a broad group, not just atheists. And I'd still use "many" and not "all" in accord with certain things artist4perry has stated.

Now go take a chill pill before you scare others with your big, bad, bold print. :D

Love ya too Ginger. And I'll add - I know some wonderful, fantastic people who do fabulous, generous and amazing things, just because they feel like it is the right thing to do. Some of them thank God for giving them that gift, some of them don't believe in God. Good people are good people, arseholes are arseholes, and it doesn't matter what you do or don't believe in for that to be true.

Absence of religion is just that. Absence of religion. Nothing more or less. I have never met an atheist or agnostic who believes that not participating in a religion means that they are free to wander about and do as they please because they're free from responsibility or accountability. That's one of the dumbest things I've heard all week and it's only Monday.

I think that it is the presence of religion , not the absence, that makes (some, not all, calm down!) people feel as though they're exempt from their own accountability. How's that grab ya. It's real easy to do something or not do something and the only reason you can give is that god or the church says it's right or wrong. It's a lot harder to think for oneself and do something because you believe it's right, say no to something because you believe it's wrong, and not lay the reason for those beliefs at god's door.

Abortion is wrong, homosexuality is wrong, ....

Why?

The church/bible says so.

But what do YOU believe.

I believe in the church/bible. God says those things are wrong.

But what do YOU say. Ok nevermind that. How about the pro-lifers that are running around killing doctors. A life is a life. What about that?

They're doing god's work (yes I HAVE heard that! I realze it's an extreme, but still!!)

*facepalm*

They never have an answer that doesn't circle back to what a book or a sermon told them.
Never. I've argued this with people and it's the same every time.

This is also not to say that this is always the case. I would venture that most modern people do not uphold everything just because a book tells them to, and do think on their own. I was raised Catholic and I've said for years that nothing with turn you from Catholicism more than being raised one, especially with the way the church is today. I drifted away from religion, my sister drifted away from Catholicism and is now Lutheran. She calls it "Catholic Lite". (Same great god, less eternal hellfire filling.) YET, she and I are very very much alike in our moral beliefs, political beliefs, family beliefs (does that fall under moral?). It's the person not the religion (or lack of). If it comes down to the religion dicating you and not you dicating your beliefs, then you know what? You're doin' it wrong.

To be a Christian is to be like Christ. To love all with the deepest heart, to forgive, to show humility, to show self sacrifice, to do no harm to others, to put others before self. If in his name you go against these things, then it is hard to say you are of him. He asked for forgiveness for those who killed him. How many of us could do the same? I can only hope to strive for the best he had to show us. And fall short miserably. :D

Total and Utter Bullshit. You obviously don't know any atheists. Atheists recognise that they, and they alone, are responsible for the consequences of their actions. I don't know a single atheist who believes they are exempt from their own accountability. .

Gos says those things are wrong.
