Foo Fighters rip off Journey

Postby tinylights » Tue Nov 10, 2009 3:36 am

Anyone notice the similarities between the Foo Fighters "Let it Die" and the guitar parts in Journey's "Stone in Love"?

MP3 file here for comparison....

Can't complain, because Journey ripped off Otis Redding with Lovin Touchin Squeezin

I love this song. There are only so many chords. I doubt it was intentional.

Right sentiment, wrong singer.

It was Sam Cooke.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I don't find this to be a rip off at all. Musicians are influenced by a lot of music they hear, and that influence will find it's way into their music. I think if it's not a direct ripoff, the band that hears hints of their music in others, should find it as a compliment.

Opps. Your right, came home and tried to listen to my otis songs, could not find it. But it was Sam Cooke, and it is very very a rip off, or a homeage, depending on your outlook.

Morons-

The Foo Fighters are huge Journey fans themselves and closed their show with LTS for a few years. This is an ode to Journey, not a ripoff. They probably called Perry and asked him about using it. Neal and Jon have no say so, as this was Perry's writing/credit.

I take it as more of an homage than "ripping off." And yeah, first time I heard that song I thought "Whoa, it's Stone in Love!"

Thank you

Foo Fighters rock...period.

The title of this thread is kinda dumb imo.

Dave Grohl "ripped" off Journey ... LOL .... Like he would need to!

Nothing wrong with "odes" or "homages" people.
