A good idea to start his own solo band while Journey is still going strong?

This seems like it could be pretty cool.

I would expect the shows would be at smaller venues, which would pretty much rock. I'd go.

A little club tour with Slash would also be fantastic.

I'll go with ya. I'm like Lora, I'd go see Neal solo before seeing Journey. It's not like I don't like Neal's playing, I just can't stomach today's Journey. But Neal? Heck ya!!!

My first choice would be Sammy, but I could live with this I guess! :D

Now, Cain can go work on his 11th solo album, since everyone else is doing their own thing.

Good, he can get all the cowboy ballads out of his system then, though I think he is more into Jazz at this point.

I saw Neal with Paul R. several years ago. The show absolutely rocked, one of the best I've ever seen. Paul just seemed to blend into the background and Neal took the spotlight. I think him having his own band is the best idea I've heard in awhile.

Maybe he'll like it so much that he won't feel the need to go back to the past. 8)

And that is what Neal wants obviously. He's beating a dead horse if he thinks he's gonna get it with Journey. This new band idea is the best thing I've heard where Neal is concerned. And he can have the spotlight all to himself. A win win for everybody.

 Too bad he didn't think of that 12 years ago.

I can't find it, but I'm sure I got one of the Paul Rogers/Neal Schon concerts from MR-X.

Andrew, if you still have it could you put it out there again? Much appreciated since I loved it.

Totally, totally up for this!!! Please let one of them be Gregg and the organ!! I like Ross; I like Aynsley; I like Deen; I wouldn't want any of their feelings to get hurt BUT Neal why don't you phone Jim James and see what he's up to... Great song writer, great guitarist, great producer, young guy, extremely talented--he is a member of My Morning Jacket and also played on Monsters of Folk... I put this song up for peeps on here to listen to--it's a great and intelligent rocker--he's an indie guy so I don't know how that would go over but he's DIFFERENT...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzdoOGUsEKg

GO FOR IT--I don't really care who you have in your band, just dreaming, except for Gregg... I am already thrilled to the core!! Can't wait!

I think Neal does great on vocals. It all depends on the music.

neal's vocals are fine. much better than jeff beck's! maybe neal can have a core touring band plus different guest vocalists/musicians in each city, like jeff beck had been doing.

Both organs!!!!!

Neal, I love Sammy and Paul, etc., but COME ON, do something with some younger guys--there are tons of talented young musicians out there who would DIE to play and tour with you!!!

Dang, I think I'm getting carried away, lol.

He ought to just go out with Shaw and Blades and change up their set a little differently to not so laid back.

Rereading his Facebook post, it looks like he already has the band pretty much put together. He's such a great musician I was hoping he would go outside the box and take a look at some younger folks, but either way I am thrilled and looking forward to this... I hope he calls it the Neal Schon band so he could some recognition by and for himself.
