I hope I'm not being too critical....

On a couple of the songs I felt no power.....I just felt an emptiness to the overall music. To me, IMHO, it sounds like early 80s VERY LITE AOR, along with early 80s production values....

You asked for feedback, I hope you don't take this as rude.

The "sustain" you're talking about is actually a delay effect. We have it on most of the songs, but it'll be changed on the final songs. I definitely agree with you there.

As far as the "power" goes, I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that we don't have live drums yet. They'll change these songs a lot. Also, the songs you hear aren't finished or mastered yet. Mastering these will bring all of the levels up and make them sound much more "full". We'll also be adding a lot of little guitar and keyboard parts, as well as stacking some pretty huge vocals on there.

I definitely don't take offense to it, and I'm glad for the feedback! I hope you like them once we get them finished.

Yeah, it's kinda like trying to judge a painting that's only been outlined so far by the artist. You just have to wait til you get the "real thing"

I don't think what I'm hearing is delay....it is an overusage of 'sustain'. Every last phrase it drawn out.

Just an observation.....

maybe I mean vibrato....like perry uses.

Plus, once the guitars come up in the mix that'll change the ball game a lot too. They're low right now.

Your singer seems like he wants to sing a different genre. He appears to want to sing progressive. Unless I'm wrong he has a much more powerful voice than what is showcased on these few tracks....and I can hear that desire to sing more powerfully. :?

Hey Guys, :-)

I think I have to point a few things out here since these are regarding me. I really appreciate your words Stock but I'm "half" agreeing with those. I enjoyed progressive music in the past when I was actually just a guitarist but I really went sooooo bored about the same-old vibrato style that most of the singers in that genre used that I avoid that power-metal-progressive singin-style like pleague!! I'm really not interested in singing progressive or heavier stuff either. It's quite interesting that you felt just like I have a more "powerful" voice than what I showcased into the Cold Heart tracks. Actually, in my own music at www.myspace.com/alexmarkscottband I really sing more roughly and rasping. That said!! I really think that rasping OR getting higher or more powerful on the tracks I sang on Jim's project wouldn't fit. I certainly would feel comfortable singing rasping or higher but it all depends on the actual rang of the song. For example, the song you posted by is really high and most importantly, that's very CLEAN..what I'm trying to say in my poor english is that I couldn't face that song CLEAN...so it would not be the same song anymore....

I hope I haven't been that BAD writing in english and I hope you did understand what I was trying to say.

Btw, I LOVEEEEEEE Heartland!!! :-)

Hey Alex, thanks for the reponse....

Ok...I didn't realize there was a language barrier here....I'll try to explain.

I didn't mean a conscious desire to sing progressive....but an unconscious one. I definitely hear progressive leanings in your vocal delivery. And that is what i was hearing in the vibrato I mentioned.....

As far as Heartland....Chris Ousey is the man! He and Michael Bormann( Jaded Heart) kick some major MR ass!

I had posted the 1st half of the song last week, but I just pulled that one down, and just posted the newly re-recorded 2nd half of the song! :D This song is by far the most epic and "modern" sounding song I've ever written. It's probably around 6 1/2 minutes long from start to finish.

I hope you like it, and please give us some feedback if you get a minute. I really think this is one of the best, most melodic solos that Alex has ever recorded! We are having some issues with Ruben's bass making a "popping" sound here and there, so you'll have to overlook that.

Check it out at www.myspace.com/jimrykbost

That was just to cool. Alex that was just so awesome. You Rock!

Hey Babyblue, thank you very much .... I'm really glad you like it!
