Wikipedia Steve Perry News - Nov. 13, 2009

Postby journey1912 » Sat Nov 14, 2009 7:20 am

Hey guys, take this for what it's worth, as it's not cited, but I think it sounds somewhat legit. It would back up several people's reasons for the delay in any news, that's for sure. This is the newest entry on Wikipedia's page:

"Steve Perry has signed a "One-Off" deal with Sony Music to release his forthcoming as yet untitled solo project. The deal is to keep everything "In House" according to a Sony exec; the album will be released on the Columbia label. A possible Greatest Hits DVD may be released after the promotion of the first singles from the new album which Steve plans to shoot Music Videos for. There are no current plans for a tour since the project is still in production."

I remember him saying in an interview that he was approached by John Kalodner to do a DVD of solo music videos, but he said there was not enough material for it, so I wonder how many videos he'd have to make for this to happen. Either that or doing a one-off concert and having that come to DVD with the other videos as bonus features or a bonus disc or something. Who knows?

How about we ask those that "Might" actually know one way or the other.....

Lora? Cyndy? Any input? (including "I haven't a clue"). S'all good either way. Besides, there's nothing keeping it from being typed into Wikipedia, correct? They don't filter things to my knowledge for correctness. So who knows....

This is no where else on the web btw...just wikipedia. Gut is telling me it is BS. I hope I'm wrong.

type type type type type type.....don't want to let you down.

I'm a loon of the highest order and I so hope this is true, but as Madsplash would say, We'll see....I'm cautiously optimistic.

Having said that, it WOULD be a very plausible scenario.

It's more than likely a hoax for a number of reasons. One major reason being it would be kinda of a bad move on SP's part to leak any NEW info at all on a site where frankly anyone could type anything they wanted on there and the site is not trust worthy to begin with. And i'm sure Perry knows that. Second, the man is 61 years old and is really a smart individual concerning any major moves reguarding his new project. Lets face it, he's waited what, 16-17 years to do something and he's gonna leak it out on there. LOL.

Seeing as anyone can change content on Wikipedia (I've done it myself to correct some Pinhead errors under the Revelation page), I would hold off until I see it on Columbia's page, or at least Perry being listed as an artist for them, which isn't the case at this time..

All you need to post on Wikipedia is a keyboard and over-active imagination. That website has ZERO credibility.

After Perry discussed the relief he felt by getting out from under Sony, WHY do you think he'd want to go back to them? I can't claim to know anything about this, but it doesn't make sense to me. Like someone said earlier... I think maybe the quote was taken years ago. Or maybe it isn't true at all? All I know is that IF that bastard ever releases another album or goes on tour... I WILL BE THERE! :D

:D :D :D

It's hard to know if that is truth or fiction.....
But it would be great for Steve to get more
press and push behind his music, as Sony
has the means. It would be great to have
video of Steve.....gosh remember what a
great video, When You Love A Woman,
was and I for one could go for more of
that...... :D :D :D

Itunes would be more than anyone could
ever ask for.....

Anyway.....you cut it, it's all delicious....

+1 After Perry did all the pissing and moaning about Sony and they shelved his second solo effort, it's hard to believe he would ever sign another deal with them. But stranger things have been known to happen.

Then again, when he was on ESPN with that player from the White Sox, they were joking about the player's singing, and SP jokingly said he was going to get him a contract with Sony.

I always thought Perry was just happy not to be under contract with ANYONE, not just Sony. Not like he ran out and signed with someone else as soon as he wasn't affiliated with Sony anymore.

Believe it or not, but Steve does still have a very close association with Sony thru his administration of the Journey catalogue.

This is what I thought. With all the remaster work he's done and the Houston DVD production, plus them administering his own solo catalog, I figure the two parties still have some type of relationship, and probably a lot stronger than Sony has with current Journey.
