"Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears - it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my neurological patients, music is even more - it can provide access, even when no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life. For them, music is not a luxury, but a necessity." - Oliver Sacks (Neurologist & author of Musicophillia: Tales of Music and the Brain)

There are a lot of interesting quotes written through the decades, but given my deep appreciation, admiration & need of music in my life, this one has had a lasting presence in my mind. What are some of your favorite quotes to share -whether it be reflective, humorous, educational, inspirational, a song verse - you like it, you name it

As children, we all live in a world of imagination, of fantasy, and for some of us that world of make-believe continues into adulthood."

I found this one a few months ago... love it...

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." ~ Marilyn Monroe

This is one of my own. I keep it on my facebook because I like it, and I hate drama.
But, even I need to be reminded of this one sometimes.

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

"Don't step in the dog poop." -- Hoagiepete ...

as my daughters headed to the bus each morning (our front yard seemed to be a dumping spot for many walking dogs). Watch for an upcoming book with the same title. It was both a metaphorical and literal statement which I explained the consequences of many times . :)

"I am going to rip out your eyes and piss in your brain."- Clarence Beaks, Trading Places movie. I think he said it to Al Franken and Jim Belushi.

Beaks is the dude who worked for Mortimer and Randall Duke of Duke and Duke Associates, getting inside info on stocks. He ended up in a gorilla suit on his way to a far away island with a female gorilla in heat.

Yeah, that was Paul Gleason who played that part. He passed away a few years back.
