With the separate Steve Perry forum, there seems to be fewer contentious threads and less activity. If all of the SP swooning were in the Journey forum, some posters who generally stay out of the SP forum would have to respond and then the sparks would fly! I actually really like the separate off topic board... i mean there is just as little journey talk as before, but it's more apparent now that it has it's own forum. But then you have an off topic board where everyone complains about the OFF TOPIC stuff that is posted. I complain about the stupid football ones, some complain about the sad ones, and Dan complains about everything.

I know where you're coming from, but to me it took a LOT away from the board! It used to be FULL of idiots (myself included), but now you just have three sets of idiots, and it's just not the same. The front page also used to really excite me, but there's rarely anything on there to excite me anymore either!

I like having an off topic board too. And I like that it has everything and anything, even threads I ignore. Those are the things that keep it alive. Something for everyone. There are threads I just don't open because I know I will have nothing to contribute. But they never bother me. Maybe it's just that time of year that things slow down. It happens now and then and seems to come in spurts.

you're right. it always gets like this - goes in little cycles. and every time it cycles around, someone says "where is everyone". it's just the nature of the message board beast. it seems less crowded because some spend most of their posting in the SP board and others in the Journey board.... the long time misfits like ourselves are still up here causing trouble... but maybe it's our slow season?

I like the Off Topic board, but I wish we could combine the SP forum with the Journey forum again. Having them in separate forums is akin to separating the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers into different hockey leagues. Where is the fun of a rivalry if the two teams never get to play against each other - no one gets to root for their favourite, do their little cheers, heckle the other side, etc.? There are teams in Journey fandom and mostly it's a friendly rivalry with everyone enjoying the game and some taking it too seriously at times, but right now it feels like we're waiting for the new season to begin.

Even when they were touring, we were down to a thread for every show with basically the same comments in each one. The dynamic just isn't the same - probably because many are less inclined to jump between forums and some don't want to be seen in the Steve Perry forum with the Loons!
