This call was made with more than 3:00 left on the clock and Harbaugh had no threat of one of the best performing quarterbacks in the past decade and to go 30 yards to win the game on the other side of the ball AND they were also 3 points down at the time, not protecting a lead.

In my opinion, the situation was no different at all. The QB is irrelevant. If Harbaugh's team doesn't convert that 4th down, the game is OVER! They only had one timeout left, so it's not like they had any shot of conserving time. Another point I'll make is that the argument you're making really makes it FAR more logical for Belichick to go for it (because he had one of the best QB ever going against him and it was VERY likely that Manning was scoring from 30 yards out or 80 yards out with more than two minutes left). If you're a football guy, you'd make the argument that Harbaugh should have kicked the ball precisely because he was facing a third string QB who probably wasn't going to move the ball and therefore would have given his team great field position when they stopped the third string QB.

Okay...you need to step away from the crack pipe dude. You're starting to sound like the dude with the Tebow crush. Roethlisberger has been REALLY, REALLY good this season. Let's not start with the revisionist history and make this guy sound like he's been Peyton Manning for the past five seasons, because he hasn't been. Pittsburgh has their last two championships because of their defense, period, end of story.

I mentioned nothing about the defense, I said he single handily put the OFFENSE on his shoulders, and if anybody has ever watched a Steelers game since he's been here, his play alone has won us many games, regardless of how many times the defense socked the opponent in the mouth. Ben's presence is felt on the field and the dude is a perfect fit for the way the Steelers play football. He's tough, he's savvy and he's not afraid to get dirty and that's what Pittsburgh has always been about. No, he hasn't been a Manning because he was never asked to be a Manning or Brady, but he's his own style and his style alone holds tons of credibility on the winning side of things.

My opinion, this game tonight is going to be a shoot out and if this lives up to the expectation, then Brady and Brees will certainly put on a show. That means MANY balls through the air and many down field attacks as far as approaching things since both defense's are costumed to give up some yards through the air, esp engineering the 2 top offense's in the league. Bush rarely has a good day on the ground & if anything, Bush is good as a receiving threat but only produces as a check down back in the open field, so I think Meachem is your best opportunity tonight to get you some more points through the air, and also in the endzone.

Plus, Bush is QUESTIONABLE tonight with a knee.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Meachem has caught a TD in the past four games. Bush is a VERY inconsistent player. Some weeks he looks like Marshall Faulk, and other weeks he forgets to get off the team bus. The good thing for Meachem is that Colston is considered the main receiver there, so he's the guy who usually draws the other team's top corner. I'd go with Meachem. I suspect the team who has the ball last tonight will win this game. Let's hope that it lives up to the hype like the Colts game did.

So any word when are they going to pass that mandatory one game sit down for concussions? Isn't it on the fast track for league approval?

What I'd like to know is, where were all these Saints' "fans" all these years? Bandwagoneers.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

CLEARLY pass interference against Welker. Two BS blown calls already - fucking refs. Anyone who thinks the Patriots DON'T get the shaft from the refs is full of crap.

There goes Meachem. This is an absolutely electrifying display of offense tonight. It looked like the Saints were gonna have trouble stopping Moroney on the ground, but it's been all Saints since that Brady pick. I'll bet it gets tight again in the second half though

The Patriots are not a very good team. I was wrong. They have NO chance in the AFC this year. Their CB's, FS's, and SS's are all horrendous. That's how they blew the game against the Colts.

I'm with you here dude. This defensive performance is FUCKING EMBARRASSING. One of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen. I didn't even know it was possible for a guy in the NFL to get as open as Meachem was on his TD. Hopefully this complete fucking ass-whooping by the Saints will wake this team up. This defense is DREADFUL. I certainly knew the Saints would score tonight, but it simply can't be this easy. I'm now officially on the bandwagon of pulling for both the Colts and Saints to go undefeated and meet in the Super Bowl so the 72 Dolphins can be silenced forever!

The Patriots just got Patriot-ized. What a romp. There's something TERRIBLY wrong when Tom Brady is being pulled with 4:00 + left in the game. So much for a great game. If the Pats want to be taken serious then they might want to fix up that defense that clearly can't contend against hot teams. Kudos to the Saints D as well, they were colliding and on a mission to take some dessert home with them. It's not an every day occurrence that you get inside the head of Brady and Belichick and force them into a back peddle.

I'd love to see a Vikings/Saints match up right now, no holds barred, anything goes. What a matchup that would be. A game for the ages at this point.

I knew the Saints were good but this was incredible against a team like the Patriots. Brees is what 85-90 % on passes ? 5 TD's I think
It was like watching a machine. I don't think Indy could beat the team that played tonight.

I believe the Vikings are the only team at this point that has what it takes to take down the Saints. As good as the Saints offense is, that's how GOOD the Vikings defense performs as well. Would be a perfect matchup. Games like the Pats and Saints is all fine and dandy since both teams are made for a fast track, but when you go up against a D like Minnesota, then it's all about putting up or shutup. We'll find out in the NFC Champ game.

Honestly, it's not the end of the world and the talk of someone being inside of Brady and Belichick's head is moronic. This game had absolutely NOTHING to do with Brady or Belichick. The Patriots defense was fucking HORRID. One of the worst defensive displays I've EVER seen in the NFL, by any team. As of right now, the AFC still doesn't scare me. After the Colts and the Chargers, it's really a coin flip. Hell, Pittsburgh has lost three straight and their star receiver calling their QB a pussy on national TV and they're still alive for a playoff spot!

Speaking of bad defense, How about Montana scoring 40 unanswered points against South Dakota State after trailing 48 -27 with five minutes left in the third quarter.

Even though 59-0 looked far worse on the scoreboard, this performance by the Patriots defense was every bit as atrocious. There is really nothing to say after a performance like this. I've had concerns about the Patriots offense in the second half all season, but it wouldn't have mattered what the Patriots offense did tonight. If they scored 40, the Saints would have scored 50.
