Hey, not to rag on SG or anything...

but does it look to anyone else like the white guy's pinching the football guy's butt?

Image

Looks like he's reachin' around there... and the football guy's laughin about it.

Just a funny photo.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

and another thread becomes perry vs augeri vs arnel

Back on topic............like linda said, i have also heard steve say that his solo work is going in a different direction. read interviews, he always talks about his classic rock roots, zeppelin, humble pie, the faces, more blues based etc. in fact when i told him that superman off of skyscraper was totally not him, or at least the steve augeri we had all come to know over the years, his response was "that IS me". 8) i wouldn't be too sure about frontiers not picking him up either, their market is a bit more diverse than people think.

Depends on the tour.
For me, Augeri really hit his stride during 'Under the Radar' tour in 2002.
He held the audience spellbound in the palm of his hand.
Were the vocals flawless?
Probably not.
In fact, I distinctly recall him ducking high notes and using it as a lame opportunity to introduce bandmembers.
But he wiggled around that stage like he owned it, and the band was having a blast - for the first time since reforming, it seemed like the ghost of Steve Perry had been fully excised.
Subsequent tours, however, featured an Augeri that was just going through the motions - much like the band itself.

I haven't seen Arnel live yet.
I'd still prefer Augeri, flaws and all, but realize there's a frontman learning curve that needs to be taken into account.
From what I've seen, Arnel just keeps getting better.

Sorry MC- but the unnecessary arnel jab from an earlier post set me off.. I share your frustration, believe it or not.

I think that Augeri will surprise people. The bluesy stuff on Skyscraper was the best stuff there. It was really cool to hear him do that because Journey doesn't do much bluesy stuff. It was a different angle for him than what we've come to know. Way cool actually. I think I need to pull that album out again.
I do worry about the criticism he got for his own-penned stuff and hope that he doesn't have to suffer through that stuff again. The "Butterfly" and "Believe" comments to me were way over the top. The songs weren't that bad actually. Maybe for Journey, they might not've lived up to "Don't Stop Believing" but they were by no means crap. I would love to hear another "Sister of Mercy". For my dough, that's the best song he ever sang. Love that tune.

I HOPE that that guy's management (who I know nothing about) do a better job for him than the mgmt that was there when he was with Journey. Augeri deserves success on his own terms. However, to do that, he's probably going to have to answer a lot of questions about the Journey stuff. His 'handlers' should be drawing up interview riders right now that say "Steve will NOT be talking about it".

He's a good guy. He'll come out on top.

Both Red 13's "The Time" and Generation's "Better Together" are reminiscent of Augeri's bluesy Tyketto Shine material.
Those 2 tracks, more than any others, best represent SA's influence melded with Journey.

Well, I did name this song a Journey masterpiece with Augeri: Live and Breathe. I love listening to Arrival more in the winter, not that our winter is that cold. But it is kind of a melancholy, moody album. I hope he does a moody solo album. It suits him.

Yeah, this one's cool. The intro riff goes on a bit long, but it's cool. Always wanted to hear Augeri sing the Cult! ;) (sounds very Cultish)

If you watch any football at all, you know butt slapping among men is acceptable and highly encouraged so it's all good if Urban's giving Timmy a little slap on the tush (lucky Urban!!).

Man, I haven't watched football for years. Used to, just can't get into it anymore. I do know they slap each other a lot, but this looks like he's lungin in for the sphincter tweak! ;)

On closer evaluation, UM's right shoulder and arm are clearly in front of TT's body, not reaching around so maybe he's trying to to through the middle and up.....I think he's just trying to demonstrate a new play...through the middle and up the back......yeah, yeah, yeah, I know doesn't make much sense....that's why he has to demonstrate it.

Erm, actually, the "Loons" didn't start anything here - the thread went off on a bit of a tangent when SG was supporting Steve Augeri and said he wished SA were still the lead singer of Journey instead of Arnel. Brywool responded by defending why he believes Arnel is a better choice right now as a frontman - SP is barely mentioned and the discussion isn't even about him.

But I agree it would be nice to focus on Steve Augeri's comeback and new solo career - he really deserves to have all of the blessings of success and I'm looking forward to his new album. If he does a Canadian tour, I would love to see him in concert!
