I'm really on a huge guitar player kick again... lots of instrumental guitar. Maybe I'm just not in the right mood for this crap.

Uh oh.... you called it a "soundtrack"... watch out   (I love the soundtrack, but I do have the ABBA Gold cd and I have a game for the PS3 called Singstar and they have an ABBA game and we can do competitive karaoke to their music. My girls LOVE it and they know all the lyrics  )

Now, Matt, just because Danillow likes ABBA (and very likely has an extensive collection of show tunes mixed in among his music collection) doesn't mean... ...well, not that there's anything wrong with that...

I saw them open for the New Cars a few years back... their songs blow for the most part, but they had an AWESOME young guitar player... made it bearable.

Deborah certainly was quite a looker back in the day... I can't remember how she looked a cpl years ago... I think she looked pretty good considering she's in her 60s (I think).

You can quit with the Perry stroking and throw in TBF and FTLOSM, and you still only reach around 4 million.

No. Only to Björn [Ulvaeus]. We meet maybe once a week to talk through things. I haven't spoken to the girls, but I know they're happy. I believe that a band that is inducted to the Hall is supposed to do a performance, but I don't think we can do that. Agnetha [Fältskog] is not flying, so I don't know how she's going to get to New York. And we haven't done anything together in 30 years. It's a difficult one. But, again, but you should never say never, you know?

Who wants to break the news to this fucker that the Rock and Roll HOF isn't in NY?

Hmm, not sure where they're doing the actual induction ceremony... this past year was the first time they actually had it in Cleveland in a long time. They usually do have it in NY. We get kinda bitter about that NY bullshit.

Interesting. Geez...The Mistake By The Lake can't even get any love for an induction ceremony into a building housed in their own city.

The rock hall has become a joke. Why does anyone even care anymore? I equate getting into the R&RHOF to being given a fake Rolex watch at your retirement party. It's lost it's luster.

#1 - 2 out of 5. Genesis and The Hollies are two incredible bands that made indelible marks on music in their time. You melodic rockers need to expand your horizons and listen to shit that's not 80s and synthesized sometimes. This ain't just directed at you Drew, but damn, there's just a lot of general disrespect for 60s and 70s bands in this community.

#2 - Who the fuck is Jimmy Cliff?

#3 - Genesis's induction is very encouraging - they are the first prog band to get inducted. This should open the floodgates for Rush, Yes, ELP, Kansas, and the like.

I'm all about musical history...love it...but this is no longer the RNR HOF.

I mean believe me I agree. I think the trouble is deciding what is Rock n Roll. I mean on a pure sense, Motown/Soul isn't really rock n roll... but I fully believe great Motown acts fully deserve being in the HOF. On the other hand, I am 110% against rap/hip hop artists of any stripe being inducted. Going by a dictionary definition, that might be a blatant double standard, I don't know. They really shoulda just called it the music hall of fame. It's just really stupid when they induct hip hop artists in their first year of eligibility... it's hilarious at the induction concerts attended by a bunch of high-rollers that grew up on 60s, 70s, and 80s music to have to sit there and watch Eminem introduce Public Enemy or whoever the fuck got inducted a couple years ago and watch them perform.

Glad you agreed with me before you disagreed with me.... its sorta like a Senator Kerrys' "I voted for it before I voted against it" moment... :D

Okay, now you've completely gone 'round the bend, SJ. IMHO there's no way KISS goes in before Alice Cooper. Without Alice Cooper, there IS no KISS. How's that for relevance and being influential? KISS is just doing Alice Cooper's act with the volume turned waaaay up. I don't have a problem with KISS (hey, who doesn't love mimes on acid), I just think it's easier to see where they've been influenced as opposed to any influence they've had on music..

1) All of Kiss's songs don't suck...Alice Cooper's do.

Journey's long lay off of not doing anything (1987-1996) has in my opiniopn killed their chances for at least another 5 to 10 years... inactivity in their prime was a killer...
Kiss should be in...and why Alice Cooper is not in... crazy...

I think I read ABBA last recorded together since the early 80s and haven't performed together since then. So that can't be the reason for Journey's exclusion so far.
