I think I read ABBA last recorded together since the early 80s and hasn't performed together since then. So that can't be the reason for Journey's exclusion so far.

Well.....maybe if Journey had retired an intact band.....

If Journey had retired an intact band they would have needed to do this before Perry. There hasn't been anything original about that act since 1978. ;)

DANG MATT! Made a great point AND used a Beatle Reference. 10 Points for you!

Actually- I bought "The Pete Best Band's" latest album a few months ago. I was amazed at how good it was.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Sorry dude...your analogy sucks. I'm thinking that Journey rolling out a new lead singer every two weeks probably isn't helping their cause. It's very difficult to take a schizophrenic band all that seriously when they turn themselves into a fucking Saturday morning cartoon! That's to say nothing of the fact that they were completely scamming their fans and lip syncing for who knows how long during what they claimed to be "live" shows.

I think if Journey could somehow roll out a new singalong song that gets people talking, they have a chance of being on the radar with the HOF. The thing, is what ever they do now, it always leads back to THAT ONE SONG that happened around three singers ago, seven albums ago and 28 years ago. That's a lot of perceived empty space between then and now that just isn't recognized. Foreigner, Styx and REO are all in the same boat. For better or worse, they haven't evolved with bands like U2 or Bon Jovi and managed to stay in the public's conscious on a consistent basis over the years.

Did you read what it was in response to? Steveo was ridiculously asserting that for Journey to be legitimate and "to be intact" for Hall of Fame purposes, they should have quit once Perry joined as the singer, thus disturbing the "original lineup." I don't disagree with the rest of what you wrote at all.

Was I the only one to take what Steveo was saying as his attempt at a joke? Of course, my humor is so lame it is apparently easy for me to identify other failed attempts.

Haha, he's passing it off as a joke and knows it's a joke, but I think somewhere in his Pinhead-fueled hysteria he wants/believes it to be a statement of fact  Right Steveo?

For all intents and practical purposes:

Steve Perry 1977-1998
Steve Augeri 1998-2007
Arnel Pineda 2007-present

Seems pretty stable to me.

With AP only 2 years in, I'm not going to put him in this average but if you take SP and SA the average voice span for Journey is 15 years and a vocally shredding catalog. Not bad and not really condemnable IMO. Can't really count JSS either, so yes, looks pretty stable as you say. :)

Tony Banks is saying a performance by Genesis is still up in the air as Phil Collins has been suffering from some health problems.

Right...and you're conveniently leaving out Jeff. Even leaving the guy out doesn't make it look like the most stable band on the planet. Bands with Journey's history aren't supposed to have a revolving door at lead singer. Also, apparently Augeri wasn't singing for quite some time, so I think it's time to cut some service time off of his tenure

Why shouldn't I? He finished up a tour in a pinch and recorded no original music. Fuck, Muggs Cain played drums for 1 show. You want me to list him for their past drummers?

Listen genius...I'm not the one who announced to the fucking world that Jeff Scott Soto was the "new, PERMANENT, lead singer of Journey". If they counted him, then I'm counting him. Just one more moronic move by Neal the Douche.

This was a rather genius move by Neal The Douche (Actually, I'm sure it was management)to extinguish the flames of Tapegate. I never believed Soto was the "permanent lead singer." Never. Fuck, they were in contact with Hunsicker while Soto was finishing up the tour and a certain lot of us here knew that. He was a tour finisher, dude.

Well they apparently believed it enough to announce it to EVERYONE! Listen, I thought it was a dopey move but it doesn't change the fact that your midget buddy Neal thought it was a good enough move to scream from the mountaintops that Jeff was the "permanent lead singer". I don't make this shit up dude. It was on their fucking website and I can only assume that nobody twisted their arm to put it up there and make this announcement.

The guy didn't start one major tour or record one original song so I'm not gonna label him or anyone else that might have rounded out a tour as anything other than a "relief pitcher." Seriously, you're gonna use "Neal said so!!!" as the crux of your argument when you sit here day after day bashing the guy for being a liar!
