Jon and Kate Divorced

Postby Voyager » Sun Dec 20, 2009 8:11 am

The question of the year is: Who gives a fuck?

I cannot understand why anyone would follow those two losers. It makes no sense to me at all. Neither of them are talented or good looking in my opinion, and they offer zero entertainment. Why would anyone follow their stupid shit?

Hopefully this will be the end of their media attention.

There has to be a reason for the intense media infatuation with these two, so I must be missing something. Can anyone explain it to me?

Everything old is new again.....

Apparently, no lessons were learned.

These girls were treated like a Freak Show. :x
This was done in the 1940s; only difference is: 3 less kids & no boys.

i have never understood the reality tv thing. if adults want to make fools of themselves on tv fine, but to include their children is nothing but exploitation. i thought we had laws protecting children from their idiotic parental units... :?

Never watched one minute of that show. If people spent as much time interacting with their own family members as they did watching others, just imagine what the world might be like! :D
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I feel the same way about this as I do about Tiger and Elin~
it's their business and it's sad for the children!!
The only difference is that these folks get paid to
put their lives in the media for the whole world to witness.
Why do people care!?!? I'm baffled...
Isn't it more fun to watch talented, wealthy, successful
people suffer?!?!?*shrug*

No vote from me...I don't know enough about these
people one way or another!!!

I can't stop crying. I'm shaking my fist at the Heaven's shouting, "Why, God? Why them?"

Not really. :P

I never watched a single episode. I just don't see what's interesting about that couple. From what I've picked up on by watching commercials or what's been written on the cover of the tabloids as I stand in the supermarket checkout line, she treated him like dirt & he acted like one of the kids. So there went any hope of my having an interest in their lives.

I just feel bad for the kids. Its never easy on kids when their parents split up no matter who you are and how much money you have.

People like train wrecks and are lookie loos into peoples misery. Personally I would rather pass on low brow tv like this. You loose IQ points and part of your life for that? One micro managing loony married to a lazy party guy with no ambition. Eight children with no stabililty in their lives, living with a circus 24/7. Sad really for the kids. :(

You're right. It's complete trash. I have no respect for anyone that displays their life that way just for a payday.
Attention whores, that's all they are. I've never even seen one episode of that shit.

The only reality show I can deal with is the Biggest Loser. AT LEAST those people are trying to do something positive for themselves. And it isn't all for the payday because you don't get paid unless you win, so those people go in knowing that only one person is coming out with money. Plus, people get voted out every week, so if you want to stay, you HAVE to do the work and stay on the program.

I used to watch the Bachelor, but I gave up on that pretty fast. I can't deal with desperate women who are convinced after 2 days that they're in love with the guy. Get bent. If they really think that, then that explains why not one of those Bachelor show induced relationships ever worked out - because they have no idea what love is and it's all about the attention.

Well, I disagree with you in one respect re the kate and jon plus eight. They had sextuplets and twins. She was a nurse. He was IT guy who had just lost his job I think during her pregnancy but eventually got another. They would have been working around the clock to support this family and never seen each other or the children as much. The financial strain on them would have been enormous. This show enabled her to spend quality time with her six babies and twins and be able to support her family and even take nice family trips they never would have been able to afford with all the kids as they became toddlers. It was a really great show the first three seasons and a very homey but realistic show of the logistics of them as true partners raising this unusual family and how they did it. I did watch it. It was not a low brow show.

But eventually by the fourth season it turned into a product placement and freebies for everything and staged outings and lost the innocence of a young family with six babies and twins just living their life and I didn't watch it anymore. So it should have been cancelled, especially now. Jon never was like he is now back then. He was a great father and very likeable. It's shocking to see what he's turned into, tired of the responsibility of raising all these children and being tied down and going through a midlife crisis in his early thirties.. The show wasn't a circus back then. Only this year with the way too public whacko separation and strange behavior going on.

Yup, pretty much my feeling when I read the initial post.
But I was going to say, "People watch shows about them for the same reason that you start threads about them. :D

People love drama and have way too much interest in other people's business. No matter what country you are in, the national pastime is actually gossiping and it transcends all age and gender lines - highschool, coworkers, neighbours, friends, relatives - no one is immune. However, it seems to be turning into voyeurism! If people could, I believe there are many who would happily put a camera in their neighbour's houses (and not just the bedroom) and these "reality shows" are the next best thing for them.

My parents have one neighbour down the street who proceeded to tell my mom about the divorce of the couple who lived across the street from both of them. When my mom told her that she didn't realize she was such close friends with the wife, the neighbour replied that she wasn't, but they have a police scanner that picks up older model cordless phones and listened in on everything the neighbour confided on the phone to a friend. And she had no shame or embarassment in admitting that. We were all disgusted, but not surprised, since we suspect this same neighbour of snooping through another's house when she was supposed to be looking after their dog as the reason they were no longer friends after the one returned from her trip. After hearing that story, any time I need to make a confidential call or use a credit card, I do not use a cordless phone no matter how safe they are supposed to be!
