It's sad for the family, I'm not all broken up over it though. Like I said, I didn't even know what movies or shows she was in til I IMDB'd it. Would you be all broken up if some musician died when you couldn't name one song they did? Tons of people died yesterday. I'm sure plenty died while I typed this post. I don't care more just cuz it's some gone-too-soon Hollywood starlet

The girl clearly had problems and no one did anything to get her enough help, whether it be anorexia, drugs, or both. Par for the course for Hollywood. No surprise, no shock, no awe from me, no way.

Anorexia sucks if that was part of the problem, I have an aunt who's battled it for 25 years since she was 18, but I mean, what are you gonna do?

With you on this one 110% Johnny! I smelled BS all over this when I read it this morning. Sorry, folks. 32 year old women don't just drop dead from a heart attack of natural causes. And I read last night that hubby doesn't want an autopsy. Hmmmm....wonder why?
It IS sad, and my heart goes out to her family and friends, but it's negligent to call this something it's not. At least let her passing be a cautionary tale for others in her position who think they're immortal. (OK, even as I'm writing this, I realize how naive it sounds, but still...if one person gets the message, that's one life saved.)

Being a male, I have to tell you that women that skinny are a HUGE turn-off. Now I'm not saying I like to go troll at the Biggest loser studios, but waifs aren't even close to being sexy.

In any event, this is sad news. My money is on her being a junkie.

It's like when Calista Flockhart was on Ally McBeal. She's a slender girl, but was so cute in the first couple seasons. And then the third season or so she comes out bone thin, painful to look at, and ruined watching the show b/c all you could do was focus on how thin she was. Portia de Rossi (Ellen's girlfriend real life) came on the show very shapely and later became stick thin and looked awful and she said it was b/c everyone was so thin on the show and it affected her body image about herself. How she thought Calista looked good and wanted to get down so thin I don't get. Same with Courtney Thorne Smith on there. Fantastic, shapely figure and went very thin later too in the show, and she admitted she starved herself and exercised obsessively to stay thin while working with ultra thin actresses. She quit the show b/c it was so unhealthy for her. They all had big heads and stick figures later in the show.

Apparently there was huge pressure from the producers on that show to get all the women to be thinner. They did stuff like replace all of the women's clothes with identical ones two sizes smaller and insisted the actresses had to fit the dresses. Horrible, horrible stories came out of that set.

But it's pretty standard. A few years ago, here in Australia they got a bunch of female Olympic atheletes to model for a calendar. Now remember, these were top atheletes at the peak of their physical fitness; you couldn't get more in shape than these women. What did the 'artistic director' of the calendar tell them? They all had to lose 5kg! Sadly most of them did diet for a few weeks to try to lose weight, but one of them decided fuck it, and just turned up to the photo shoot wearing bigger clothes. The fuckwit director complimented her on how much better she looked and held her up to the others as a great example.

Industry people who say the media isn't pushing anorexia are lying through their teeth.

M.D.: Had to Be Drugs that Killed Murphy

(CBS/AP) Authorities said Monday it appeared actress Brittany Murphy died of natural causes after becoming ill with flulike symptoms in the days before she collapsed in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.

Celebrity Web site TMZ is reporting there were "large amounts of prescription medications" on the nightstand when paramedics arrived at her Hollywood home, and that Murphy was "complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain" in the week before she died.

"She always denied any relationship to drugs," US Weekly Entertainment Director Dena Sansing told CBS News. "She said she had never tried it. She said the strongest thing was Sudafed -- it wasn't her thing."

But at least one leading pathologist tells "The Early Show" he'd bet a lethal combination of prescription drugs was involved.

"It's possible, certainly" (that Murphy died of natural causes), Dr. Cyril Wecht told "Early Show" co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez Tuesday, "and usually, it will be some kind of a congenital heart condition. But in most of those cases, the patient will be aware that there is some heart problem.

"When you have a 32-year-old person dying suddenly, and especially a celebrity in Los Angeles, you can place your bet down that it's going prove to be a case of acute combined drug toxicity. And I bet you that this young lady tragically died in the same way that Michael Jackson did, and Anna Nicole Smith, and her son, Daniel Smith, and Heath Ledger -- a combination of drugs that had been prescribed for her, prescribed for her husband, for her mother, in some fictitious names, probably by doctors who are very, very quick to make available anything that celebrities want, sometimes using knowingly fictitious names.

"So, even though these drugs are, quote, legal, unquote, they are, many times, illegally obtained. And it's a tragedy. And it's being played out everywhere in America every day, and we only come to know about it when it involves celebrities."

What leads Wecht to conclude drugs were involved here?

"I am aware of some of the drugs that were found. One of them was a drug that was involved with Michael Jackson, Adivan. One of them was a drug that was involved with Anna Nicole Smith, Klonopin. Two of the drugs are pain relievers, Hydrocodone, which we frequently see in these cases, and Vicoprofen, a form of Vicodin. So, I guarantee you that, if the pathologists at the Los Angeles coroner's office had found something dramatic, like a heart attack, like a stroke, or like something of a definitive nature, would you have heard about it. The fact that they say that they're going wait for toxicology tests and it will take a couple of months, you can be sure that this is going to prove to be a case of acute combined drug toxicity. A tragedy."

Officially, Assistant Chief Los Angles County Coroner Ed Winter said to reporters that an autopsy had been conducted and officials were awaiting the results of toxicology and tissue testing before determining an official cause of death. It could take up to six weeks before a determination is made public.

Officials also interviewed Murphy's personal physician and examined prescription drugs taken from her home. None of the medications was illegal, reports said.

Brittany Murphy's death ruled an accident
February 4, 2010 | 9:35 am

Actress Brittany Murphy's sudden death at 32 was due to pneumonia exacerbated by anemia and a harmful combination of medications.

Ending weeks of speculation in the entertainment media over the Dec. 20 death of the "Clueless" and "8 Mile" star, the Los Angeles County coroner announced Thursday that the primary cause was "community-acquired pneumonia," with contributing factors of "iron deficiency anemia" and "multiple drug intoxication."

The drugs involved were prescription and over-the-counter medications she took orally, said Ed Winter, assistant chief at the L.A. County coroner's office. Her death was ruled accidental, he said.

"She was anemic and she wasn't in good health," Winter said

Coroner's officials said the autopsy report would be made public in two weeks and would document the specific drugs involved in Murphy's death. In cases involving multiple drug intoxication, the drugs may not be present in concentrations that are considered lethal, but the interaction with each other can prove harmful.

Murphy was found unconscious and not breathing in her bathroom at her Hollywood Hills home after experiencing what her family says were flu-like symptoms.

In a 911 call, her mother, Sharon, reported finding her daughter Dec. 20. "My daughter's passed out," she told the dispatcher, explaining the actress had been ill, vomiting and complaining of dizziness.

A 911 operator coached her and Murphy's husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, on how to perform CPR. "Brittany, please come back," her sobbing mother is heard saying on the 911 tape.

Firefighters who responded to the 8 a.m. call at the home in the 1800 block of Rising Glen Road reported finding Murphy in sudden cardiac arrest. They tried unsuccessfully to revive her on the way to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about two hours later.

An Atlanta native, Murphy moved to Burbank with her mother when she was 13 and began appearing on TV shows. The petite and free-spirited actress' film break came in the movie "Clueless" (1995), alongside Alicia Silverstone.

A spectrum of roles followed on the big screen, from that of an idle rich girl forced to become nanny in the comedy "Uptown Girls" to the gritty waitress in "Sin City" to a romantic lead opposite hip-hop star Eminem in "8 Mile." She also was featured as the voice of Luanne Platter in the Fox TV show "King of the Hill."

In recent years she struggled to maintain her star status against a backdrop of rumors of health and behavior issues in the tabloid media.
