It seems predatory women have turned to the Boy Scouts as a new form of dating service. First we had Courtney Sheward, caught romancing a 16-year-old in Forth Worth. Now we have Wendy Rodgers, the lecherous scout leader of Lebanon, Illinois.

Last weekend, the parents of a boy described only as their "minor son" came home from shopping to find the boy "engaging in mutual intercourse" with a woman. They immediately recognized her as 39-year-old Wendy Rodgers, leader of Boy Scout Troop 35 in O'Fallon, Illinois, in which their son is a member.

St. Clair County police received a 911 call that reported a "rape in progress." When they arrived at the home, they found that the parents had trapped Rodgers in their son's bedroom. She apparently lacked the scouting skills to weave a homemade rope and escape.

Rodgers has been charged with criminal sexual assault. Bond was set at $100,000.

UPDATE: Though she was found in bed with a 15-year-old, Wendy Rodgers' husband still puts up $10,000 to bail her out. The Boy Scouts, meanwhile, haven't been so charitable. They've severed all ties with Rodgers, who's been a troop leader since 2004.

What struck me as odd is that they never mentioned this woman having a son of her own in the troup, so why is she a Boy Scout leader instead of volunteering as a Girl Scout leader? If a Girl Scout troup put a 39 year old man with no daughters in the troup in charge of 15 year old girls and he was caught having sex with one of them, the leadership would be held somewhat accountable - I wonder what will happen in this case?
