HEY NEAL! Since we were "heard" on the last tour..

Postby PianoMan1986 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 3:30 pm

I know that we weren't all there to see the song(s) played live, but even for the sake of youtube footage, I thought it was awesome finally seeing them play One More (since the Augeri era, I think), Higher Place, When You Love A Woman, and the combination of Patiently and Why Can't This Night Go On Forever. Plus seeing them consistently keep a few of the new tunes in the set was cool too.

Point being, what song or songs (I would say picking two would be reasonable, although I know I can't hold myself to that one lol), would you like to push for on the next tour? Things to consider would probably be: what type of show (solo tour, double bill, etc), what would be swapped out in its place...stuff like that.

A new album of amazing material, with Arnel slaying us by delivering a Perry-esque writing contribution would be a good start.... and a great jumping off point for them...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Hopefully they can deliver new material without the fans going to sleep or rioting.

I for one thought it was cool that the Band paid attention to our request. If they are going to continue though, Id rather they stay away from the Perry era stuff and maybe throw in more Arrival like All the Things, Livin to do. Or Red 13, State of Grace, The Time etc...

More than other songs, I'd LOOOOOVE to hear AP's take on State of Grace! :D

And I agree with "78". Some great tunes on the later albums that'd sound great in concert.

I would definitely choose 'State of Grace' as my choice for an obscure song to play.

Great song.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Deen sing IBAWY at a show or two during the last tour? Maybe it was a different tour.

I think a lot of fans like some of the ROR material and I've always wondered why they don't let AP take a shot at more of them.

If Neal still has a strong voice, I would love People and Places live. I would like to see Precious Time. I would love We Will Meet Again or Live and Breathe and especially World Gone Wild, but at least one of those. I would like to see Chain Reaction played next year, since I don't think they played it at my concert this year. I would like Turn Down the World Tonight. Take out Open Arms and put When You Love a Woman at every show next year. It's a winner live by Arnel. I would like to see some ROR. Put back Stay Awhile at the end of Lights. Put Rubicon in. And keep Still They Ride with Deen next year b/c I want to hear it again. A must have, extended version of What I Needed.

I agree with everything except Precious Time ( Never have liked that one ) and Still they Ride, Deen does great job, but I would rather hear Suzanne if they going to do something different with him.

Fantastic idea. I agree. Just refresh and change up that funky, dated intro.

Jeremey changed it up in the beginning last year and updated the song. Really amazing job by Jeremey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBDiGsWhg6c

Jeremey does a fan-fucking-tastic job on Suzanne. It almost sounds like Perry singing with an Escape-era voice.

I really enjoyed seeing/hearing Ross perform Walks Like A Lady in Milwaukee during the 30th Anniversary Tour. (Still tossing around my own song suggestions)

Mother, Father
Edge of the Blade
Little Girl

Those are my three...
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

I think Russ could pull it off. Neil, Johnathan, Dean and Arneal could probably handle it, too.

 Yea, Randy Jaxon, the Edward Van Halen of the bass pulls off chords Vaory can only DREAM of.

I didn't say that, nimrod.

But Ross Valory is a mediocre bass player at best, even Herbie said that. He could never have pulled off the mean ass groove Jackson did. There's a reason Valory is way down in the live mix.

And dead people don't DREAM btw.

Yea because bass is mostly about being subtle and holding together the bottom of a song, something Valory's style fit to Journey since inception save for the time perry the producer made the band fire him in favor of his personal bassists who's idea of suble was a pink polka dot bass, David Puddy's 8-Ball jacket and a Gumby hairstyle and playing lound thumpy bumpy bass lines.

He did add something different, I won't TOTALLY dismiss his contributions but since then I think Valory has ably covered his parts.
