So what's your personal preference Mr Moffatt, sky leaks or snow heaps?

Difficult question. They both seem to bring this country to a standstill and they are both damned inconvenient. I suppose the snow looks prettier. 8)

When I was a kid I used to walk twenty miles to school in a sub-zero blinding blizzard wearing nothing but a raincoat with a rock in each shoe while lugging a fifty pound boulder on my back with one arm tied to my forehead while holding my breath b/c the walk was under water. Times were tough.

Actually, my Grandfather did walk exactly 6 miles to his one room school, back in 1912 or whatever it was. He used to stop and check his gopher traps on the way home because the feet paid 5c per critter, as a reward, because the farmers were having a problem with them and put out this reward. Sometimes he'd keep the feet in his napsack and it could take a week before he could turn them in. By then they would be stinking pretty bad. He could never figure out why the girls didn't want to sit next to him. Once he figured it out, his gopher trapping days were over.

It's fucking cold??????

Postby Arianddu » Sat Jan 09, 2010 8:37 pm

NO IT'S FUCKING NOT!!!!

It is 43C/110F at the moment. It's also 9pm. It isn't going to get below 30C/85F AT ALL until late Monday evening. The UV readings are 12 (extreme) for the next 4 days, there's a total fire bann and the CFS and SES are on 24 hour alert and we're at severe fire risk.

The tarmac out the front of my house is soft enough that the cars are sinking into it. Which is ok - it was bubbling at midday. My housemate bought a new frying pan this morning and left it in the car. We quite literally fried an egg in it this afternoon just from taking it out of the car. If I'm lucky, only half the garden will die before next weekend.

Take your snow talk and your blizzards and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
