A 7.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Haiti

You all have good intentions, but let me rock your world a bit

Clinton said Washington will provide 287 million dollars in non-emergency to Haiti this year, most of which will be devoted to infrastructure, agricultural development, debt relief, and security, which, despite the natural disasters, has improved sharply over the last several years due largely to the efforts of the Brazilian-led U.N. 9,000-strong peacekeeping force, MINUSTAH.

We sent them $287 million last year alone... clearly it's not being used wisely. Sending them money is putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. Although they are not cursed as that buffoon Robertson said, there are clearly much larger problems at work and I really would think twice before simply cutting a check. At least make sure you send it to the Red Cross or somewhere reputable... I still say your help is better used here in the US if you are in the US.

Somalia has more of a government than Haiti Does. There has to be designated trusty to be ward of the state for us to monitor the use of the funds that are being sent. It's been like pouring money into a blackhole the last few years.

That's ok, just let the sheeple piss away money to satisfy their consciences.

The aid can't even move because of the limited airfields to bring it in. So a lot of the money will end up stagnant as it can't buy anything because of the backlog created by inventory not being able to move. Sadly, when money sits, it tends to disappear.

It's people that are needed, Doctors and nurses. without them, everything else becomes mute.

If the fact that this is happening 750 miles from Key West moves me to feel compassion and to want to help makes me a sheep, well, then ... baaaaaaa.

"With three million people in Port-au-Prince facing a desperate shortage of water, food and medicine — and thousands still trapped beneath rubble — experts spoke of a race against time to prevent another wave of deaths.

The first relief flights arrived today, but the airport soon had to stop them because it was “saturated” and had no aviation fuel for the planes’ return trips. It took six hours to unload a single Chinese plane because of a lack of equipment. A British aid flight was one of eleven turned back.

Supplies were piling up a few hundred miles away in the Dominican Republic, which occupies the other half of the island of Hispaniola.

The port is unuseable because of damaged wharfs and debris in the water. Most roads are impassable. The Government is barely functioning because whole ministries were destroyed. There is no running water or electricity, little heavy lifting equipment and most communications are down."

This may seem like a cold analogy, but giving money in this situation, from all the facts in evidence, is akin to giving a bum $3 for "food" (translation: for another Colt .45 malt liquor).

You can donate $10 to Haiti relief by texting “Haiti” to 90999.

How fitting. One's looting through rubble and corpses in Haiti in a shirt of "The One" who's looting and pillaging our U.S. capitalist system that built the greatest country on Earth.

This is "fact based" enough to go into your BS thread on Limbaugh that was based on a lie.

Don't be so judgemental, Steve. Those people are trying to survive and I don't think they think taking a bit of food is considered looting. If the world degenerated into total anarchy and I was forced to be in the survival mode, if it came down to you or me, I'd kill you and take your shit, that simple.

Doctors Without Borders...I just listened to a doc over there discuss how they are
performing procedures with hacksaws and Vodka. The needed tools and
supplies have been delivered by the planeloads, but they can't get the stuff to them
due to the damage...I don't understand how the media can get there but not the
necessities, WTH?!?! :?
