Average number of Facebook friends.

Postby Don » Wed Jan 20, 2010 4:11 pm

I have six friends. I got up to ten but dumped four as I didn't actually know them. What numbers are you guys dealing with? 100 seems to be the average for most of the people I've talked to.

Is Farmville like the Nintendo game Harvest Moon? You milk cows, raise chickens, get married and all that stuff?

No idea what Harvest Moon is... never played that.
But yeah, you run a farm... plant, plow, harvest, milk cows, pluck geese, etc.. . nothing about marriage though. LOL!

180...direct acquaintances straddling more than 3 decades :D. Not that unmanageable as I've clumped them into about 3 common-interest groups ("lists") for one-click en masse privacy setting.

Tons of my buddies have "friends" ranging in the 800's to even the thousands. That chaps my ass. I get friend requests EVERYDAY from strange people I don't even know, or people I've seen but never talk to so I hit the ignore. Every person on my list I know or have come acquainted with over my years in school, sports and gatherings or what not. I think I have a little over 270. They always said: "The more friends you have on the internet, the less you have in real life." 8)

Just 1 - I was forced to sign up by a "friend" and I used a fake name as well so no one else can find me.
I guess I prefer to communicate with family and friends via phone calls and emails (and yes, occasionally snail mail).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Right now, about 40. Only real close friends with maybe a half dozen of them. Most of them are co-workers who would otherwise don't care about my existence otherwise.

Most of my real friends can't be found on any social network. I always end up stuck with the anti-internet people.

I have 17. Most of which are my boyfriend's family and I didn't want to be rude and say no to the friend request. I really only wanted to get on Facebook to find a few of my old friends. 8)

I used to care about declining, and peole thinking I'm being an ass, but no more.

Last summer, my former sister-in-law sent me a request. I was doing the "well I don't want to be a bitch" thing, and I accepted it, figuring maybe she had something to say or something. 2 weeks, she said nothing, posted nothing, no messages, and (knowing her as I did) I am fairly certain she only did that because my page is private and she wanted to snoop, so... *DELETE* Gone. Good to learn some thing never change though.

Then this weekend, the wife of a coworker found me and requested me. I'm not accepting.
I don't want any work people or anyone related to or friends with work people on there.

Plus, this woman, I like her, she's real nice, but her husband (the guy who works here) is a total creep, and if I befriend her on FB, he is sure to try and follow, and NO WAY. He makes it known that he tries to hook up with other women even though he's married. He's WAY too friendly toawrd me {if ya know what I mean} and makes me really uncomfortable, especially since the day my boss told me she caught him blatantly staring at me, ahem, as I was walking away {if ya know what I mean again}. My friend came by here one day and he told her I wasn't friendly or something... um... YEAH, cuz you're a friggin' creep, dude, and neither you nor your wife will be darkening the doorstep of my FB page.

Well that was a nice fun story... happy Wednesday! :D :D

I have 382, but I've been on there for 5 years and a lot more people my age use it. I RARELY ever send friend requests. I accept most requests unless I have a problem with the person or totally have no idea who he/she is, but keep my privacy on lockdown

I currently have 141, after deleting about 10 people who are connected to my husband.

There was 1 or 2 that would constantly comment on everything I did, posted, replied to, attended, etc., even commented about who I had in my friends list, and my husband was starting to get crazy jealous about absolutely nothing. Turns out it was a case of 'misery loves company'... So, poof! In order to be fair, I deleted everyone that had anything to do with my husband, including all his relatives. My husband and my life are much more happier for it!

I pretty much know everyone personally on mine, in one way or another, except for a few musicians.

No, but it appears that the perpetrator was! Which is why I axed all of them. I'm too old for that crap. My husband refuses to join Facebook, but had nothing else to go on but his "best man's" comments. He's been under a lot of stress for a long time now, so he was easy prey at the time. Problem solved! Bwahahahaha!

Totally weird Facebook situation this morning.

Ok, I have added people I don't know so I could get some Farmville neighbors, but I created a "list" with different access settings, so that those people can't see any of my personal info, etc... (because I have only ever befriended FB and myspace people that I actually know, except for a FEW bands/musicians I follow)... so these people are there JUST for farmville, can't see personal info about me - nothing... and there seems to be a sort of unspoken etiquette - if you're commenting on a stranger's page, you keep it only to the game-related posts...I mean that's what *I* do and that's what most seem to do.... I don't go commenting on non-game posts of people I don't know.

Today I have this chick commenting on my other posts as if she knows me. It's really weird.
I may be evicting her from my neighborhood if that keeps up.

I like Facebook, but I get SO sick of people spamming me about events, farmville, mafia wars, etc. That stuff drives me nuts. Otherwise, it's pretty cool.

You can hide all of that. Say, if you don't want to see Mafia Wars... go to the right of any Mafia Wars post and hover the mouse... the "hide" button comes up - click and it will give you an option to "Hide Mafia Wars" - you will never see another post for the app(s) you hide after that. And it's a pain in the ass to unhide stuff, so there's not much chance you'll ever run across another post from the apps you hide... LOL!

Or you can just go to "Block application" on the bottom left under the message so your profile will block "Mafia Wars" from entering your profile. That's what I did.
