this is a money thing, and that's ALL it is. It's a way of charging an extra $3 to see a movie (and also reducing priracy by someone who snuck a video camera into a theatre).

For any good that 3D does, it's going to be exploited until there is nothing left. I'm not sure I see the big deal. It doesn't make a better movie, it's just another effect. Only script, direction and casting will make better films.

Taiwan man dies after watching 'Avatar'

TAIPEI (AFP) – A 42-year-old Taiwanese man with a history of high blood pressure has died of a stroke likely triggered by over-excitement from watching the blockbuster "Avatar" in 3D, a doctor said Tuesday.

The man, identified only by his surname Kuo, started to feel unwell during the screening earlier this month in the northern city of Hsinchu and was taken to hospital.

Kuo, who suffered from hypertension, was unconscious when he arrived at the Nan Men General Hospital and a scan showed that his brain was haemorrhaging, emergency room doctor Peng Chin-chih said.

"It's likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms," he told AFP.

Kuo died 11 days later from the brain haemorrhage, and the China Times newspaper said it was the first death linked to watching James Cameron's science-fiction epic "Avatar".

Film blogging sites have reported complaints of headaches, dizziness, nausea and blurry eyesight from viewers of "Avatar" and other movies rich in 3D imagery.

Probably so. The last one, when the guy becomes Darth Vader was the only one of those movies I could stand. I can remember seeing it in the 70s and everybody saw it like, 100 times. I thought it was way boring.
Never a big Star Wars guy. Some of the dullest movies ever made. It's like folks that thought 2001 was so great. DAMN DULL MOVIE. I'll take Wrath of Khan over all of em any day of the week.

No. I have one of the DVD sets or the originals. I doubt I will even buy the blu-ray, unless something happens to the DVD's.

If Lucas wants to film SW, he should do episodes 7 - 9, beforethe actors from 4-6 start dying off.

Ah, the writing was a version of Fern Gully. I loved it. Beautiful work. Regardless of the writing, it is a break through in tech. for animation............anyone can see it is a new era in films.

Is it really a breakthrough? I saw it as a quantity-over-quality thing. Just imagine a bunch of Gollums all over the place.
