Why wasn't this an option for the tsunami in Indonesia?
Why wasn't this done for the flooding in New Orleans?
I guess there's a Hollywood thing going on now that makes it more important.

Oh, I don't need pills for jerk-dom. I'm naturally a critical thinker. Ha.
Thing is, I wonder if 'Hollywood' is taking this tragedy too far...turning it into a hey-look-at-me thing. Between news Doctors constantly on TV, to telethons, to public adoptions, it looks like we're going a bit overboard with our sympathy displays. There was a NPR show just this weekend about the role of TV Doctors - are they really helping all they can or are they just playing for the camera. I can see how this argument might apply to all celebrities.

No. (laughing as I say this) Never have been a gushy little cheerleader. (Still laughing.)
Please define 'positive' & 'contribute'. Is there only one view, or many different opinions?
Please expound on all possible definitions & angles.
Wouldn't it be extremely boring if we all thought alike (cliches)...not to mention take this place seriously?
Likewise, isn't it annoying when the gang mentality is so predictable?![]()

StevePerryHair wrote:Why does that not shock meYou need to take into account that this ISLAND is not THAT far off the coast of Florida. It is OUR part of the world! Not a tsunami that is half way across the world. And I happen to remember hollywood doing all kinds of things for New Orleans too, so just because the "we are the world" people didnt' think of that particular thing last time, there WERE things done in hollywood. Your critical thinking is flawed.

Not trying to be argumentative here, but our proximity to a tragedy off our shores shouldn't dictate the level of our response. Last I checked, the tsunami still has a higher death toll than this earthquake, which shouldn't be taken any lighter. just sayin'
Also, I get what Arkansas is getting. Until more people start looking through more critical eyes like his, every time there's a new crisis, as a whole, we're going to be taken for all we can...
The haiti thing has gotten politicized. It really has...if people cant see it...well, hard to argue with them. It doesn't discredit the efforts of those to bring aid to these poor people in Haiti, but everyone from the president (who fucked up the first days of this tragedy worse than Bush ever did Katrina) to the righties critiquing the president to the various folk with a loud enough voice to comment.....

Its just plain ignorant to see this project as something political. With Arkansas logic, anytime a disaster happens, they should re-record this song....

Corrected your statement.
Seriously. Both projects were political. As were the various Bob Geldoff concerts over the past 20-30 years.
Whether or not you agree with the politics being played here (and the ever present politics in past musical efforts to provide support for some 'cause') is not the issue. failing to see the political machinations turn the wheels is where the ignorance is.
Support these 'causes' if you want...more power to you....but to think we are the world, the tsunami or the current earthquake isn't politicized....sorry, you're just wrong.
