Maybe this could be SP's big comeback chance!

We know how tough it is to replace THE sound of a legendary band. Maybe this will work, maybe not.

It's kind of sad, really. Lead singers are the ones taking the most beating when their groups are up there on stage performing live...night after night, year after year. How can they be expected to hold up...when advanced age is a factor.

Seems to be happening more and more now. Can't fault the other musicians in the band wanting to continue making a living, but it's almost like discarding a wounded animal to the pasture. If you can't perform, you're no good to us. Move over, we're getting a replacement.

It's business, not personal. The show must go on and this is another example, not unlike Journey, who people seem to want to diss for doing the same thing. One fifth of a band can't tell the others "don't fracture the stone" and expect them to live by it. I wonder if Tyler is gonna say something similar?

Of course, it's business. But fans cannot begin to know what's going on inside the hierarchy(sp?). Some bands stay together for years and years and years--they don't tour all the time and still have the original members intact.

Journey hardcore fans know their history very well. It may be speculated that SP didn't really want to be in the band. In Aerosmith's case, just from reading the recent stories and quotes, it would seem ST does want to be in the band but can't due to health problems. Musicians can play until they're 100 yrs. old, but singers (especially rock singers) are very delicate--and ST is 61 yrs. old! How long can he sing and prance around on stage like that? I think he's thinking about going solo to take a break. That doesn't mean he wants to quit the band, though.

Bands are very much like families, I suppose. Some are close-knit, have a lot of love for each other...while some are dysfunctional and aloof toward each other. Not saying anyone particular is the problem or instigator...just that overall family dynamics and environment that fosters the attitude within.

Haha... sounding like an armchair psychoanalyst here. :P

Case in point; The Eagles. They are still profitable and that is what keeps them touring, even though Henley and Frey hate each other, pretty much.

That's what I heard  . But it's all fan speculation...we don't know what's really happening with these guys. Yeah, the stories, 1 ex-bandmember's tell-all book. I suppose Frey is a control freak, and Henley is a hothead. Can't deny that those 2 are extremely talented...singing/songwriting/musicians...the whole package. They broke up for, what, 20 yrs(?) because they couldn't stand each other...then, joined forces again because they knew, collectively, they are more successful as a whole. Frey said as much in the '05 Australian tour dvd that was first shown on national TV.

I don't know why Joe and band would have auditions?? Joe has the singer for Aerosmith in his band, Hagen Grohe from Germany. He is great. :D Tyler who???

Rubbish.

Without ST, they need to DISBAND.

Quit.

Finished.

Nada.

Out.

its personal if it happens to you though... because you dont see the business side of whtat is going on, when its happening to you, if that makes sense

Hate to see Tyler replaced though. They were overrated with Tyler... Areosmith, will be UNDERWHELING with out him.

Stevo- Adam Lambert should tour with Queen as well as on his own. Aerosmith w/o Tyler = Journey w/o Perry= Styz w/o Dennis =Queen w/o Freddie= Foreigner w/o Lou Gramm. These bands are shadows of their former financial success. Can you imagine Jon w/o Ritchie still being BonJovi . People want to hear the voices that sang to them the hits 30 yrs ago. I will add Def Leppard and the Rolling Stones .
