"This Is It" dvd...

Postby G.I.Jim » Mon Jan 25, 2010 1:49 am

Alright... Tuesday is almost upon us. Who's going to by this dvd? I saw it in the theater and have been patiently waiting (okay, maybe not patiently) for this movie to come out. I can't WAIT to watch it again, and they're supposed to have quite a bit of extra footage on it. So is anyone else here buying it? :D

I didn't see it in the theater and yes, I will buy it.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

You need to buy it Matt, you're gonna like it! He kicks ass in the dvd and I'm amazed at how good he sounded in it. He still had all of the moves, and he even busts out some new moves in it! He did look pretty freakish in it, but that aside... one of the coolest films I've ever seen.

Ahaha, If I were still in college I'd "prolly" kill myself (although I'd love to still be lazy and drunk twice a weekend). I can't believe it takes people (who don't take a break from it) more than four years to finish. I coulda finished in 3 and I didn't even try to get ahead with extra classes.

Haha, I do miss my friends and of course just bein lazy all the time. But man, even here in Cleveland (on the non-snowbelt, west side) we don't get anywhere near the snow they get. I don't miss that. Plus, anytime you're somewhere like that for 4 years, it just gets repetitive unless it's your actual home.

I really miss the great bar food (great wing places) and this other restaurant that had the best Southwest Chicken Salad ever, too.

Yeah, I can honestly say as I sit here with temps in the 70's that I do not miss that snow belt at all  I think I would go a little nuts from boredom in a small town now, so I can understand that. I can never complain that I have nothing to do living in the Orlando area. There is always SOMETHING to do. Though sometimes being lazy has it's appeal too  I miss the food and the people as well though! And it's been a lot of years, but I still do.

Matt, how the hell you stay so thin when all you talk about is food? Corn..... brisket ..... frozen pizza ..... chicken salad ..... Image

As for "This Is It"..... Yep, I plan to buy it. Sidenote: You have to appreciate the art of dance & be a fan of Michael Jackson's in order to benefit from this DVD. If one or both are missing, you're going to watch it & say, "So what."

OT: The first season of Glee DVD was just released. I'm watching it in between commenting on this board. Yeah, that's right, I live my life in the fast lane..... You got a problem with that?

The main reason he sounded So good was cause of the great quality of the tapes ;).

I like MJ and I'll buy this one. But to say this is one of the coolest movies you've seen is a bit too much JimboGym. Had ge still been alive , this movie wouldve flopped ,,,, it's sad that his death gave his career a final boost , but also true ,,,

The parts inparticular that I'm referring to had no tapes! It started with him working on his dance moves as he starts to sing, then has the band following and building up the songs... LIVE. Now during some of the big production numbers, YEAH... they used tapes. And how the hell can you tell me that this isn't one of the coolest movies I'VE seen? :?

I feel bad that you haven't seen that many cool movies,,,,,

There's maybe two three songs there that weren't tape. Most of it is tape man.

You can say what you want, but it was a kick-ass movie. I was plesantly surprised when I saw it, and my wife really liked it to. If you didn't like it... oh well. Your perogative. There were a lot of live vocals on there, and his voice still sounded great! That's a fact.

Unclench ,,I didn't say I didn't like it. But unlike yourself I've seen many many other movies that are much "cooler" ,,,, I just feel bad for you, that's all. Specially since it's more of a Rockumentary than a Movie ;)

The live vocals are few and far between,,, just cause you can't tell the difference , doesn't mean the rest of us can't :)

You know, if these were rehearsals, I wouldn't be surprised that they would use tapes. And how can you tell every single one of those is live? I mean wearing a mic doesn't make it live. It just seems to me, since he was worried about doing all the shows he needed to, maybe for rehearsals he wanted to save his voice. It's possible he re-recorded some things and then used those tapes too. I'm sure there is SOME live stuff there though. I'd guess sometimes he did rehearse it with his real vocals. I wanna see it for the dancing 8)

Of all the songs you posted above , only ONE is live, BEAT IT ,,,,
when I said they're taped , I didn't mean the used the very original track. Just like Lynn mentioned , they're re-records , but he isn't singing any of those live , except Beat It.
The rest are all tape. Of course , you can't tell JeremyP , cause you also thought Augeri was singing live.

All you have to do is compare the rehearsal versions with the studio recordings.

He did wanna save his voice, which is why he didn't sing out like he would had it been an actual concert performance. He mentions this a few times in the film.

I know all his records backwards and forwards...ask my parents. lol
