Scorpions calling in quits (in awhile)

Sounds a bit more like when the Eagles called it quits except the Scorps are older.

Before Germany's current most successful rock band, Tokio Hotel, hit the charts—long before—there was The Scorpions. The German export was not only one of the most predominant voices of rock during the 80's and the 90's. But with the ballad Wind of Change and concerts in Russia The Sccorpions became one of the voices that sang about the wave of democracy sweeping through Eastern Europe during the late 80's and early 90's, including their native Germany, which saw the fall of the Berlin Wall.

According to The Local, The Scorpions is calling it quits after 40 years of playing music. However, their end won't be abrupt. The band will release it's next album Sting in the Tail and embark on a two to three year tour before the final end.

Bloomberg writes that the band's album is slated for release on March 19th. Rudolph Schenker from Hanover started the band in 1965. Over the course of its career, the band has release 20 albums and sold more than 100 million albums, making them Europe's most successful rock group.

When you factor in music, tours, years and live performances, I'm not sure there's ever been a better frontman than Klauss Meine. That guy's had a legendary career.

Wasn't there a rumor going around a while ago about Journey possibly touring with the Scorps or was that just wishful thinking on my part? That's a line-up I would love to see.

Anyway, I'll be watching for their US tour schedule.

That was the rumor for last summer. Bryan Adams was also included in that.
