Obviously, the 2nd disc of Revelation was a Wal Mart mandate, and Journey simply couldn't turn down the opportunity to make some cash and get their product to the consumer so I can see their purpose the first time around. This time??? I'm drawing a blank. I can't think of any way to rationalize another disc of re-records. Neal has mentioned a "conceptual album about current events in the world" and until I know what the hell that means it's hard to tell if re-records fit in or not. However, I'm going to venture to guess that it's a bad idea. You need to stay clever and give the consumer what they feel is good bang for their buck. My suggestion is a double album (CD) with a "free" Blu-Ray disc of the Manila concert for $14.99. If you can swing that deal with Wal Mart I'm guessing you'll see pretty robust sales and another platinum or double platinum album. Especially if you can get Wal Mart to do the "exclusive" advertising, including playing the show in all stores like they did for Revelation for a short time. There were people huddles around the TV's watching the concert and talking about it. Great way to advertise for free.

THAT IS GENIUS DUDE.

I remember my kid telling me about them playing the Vegas DVD at BESTBUY and people were huddled around the TV applauding after each performance, saying "Who is this guy and where can I get this DVD?".

I saw the same thing and it was really hard not to go over to where they were and start with my geeky Journey knowledge and get everyone caught up ... but I figured it would have creeped them out. I guess when you know everything about Journey and have never so much as seen a movie in Blu-Ray or even seen a Blu-Ray player  you're a bit creepy. What's next??? Someone's gonna tell me IROC's aren't cool???

Re-Record em all!

I love you too 78!!

I agree with '78. Anything that keeps Perry on the payroll as band member #6 is cool with me.

I love you too Gunny

and yes but how much money does Perry need????
Enough to build that extra room to house all those plaques that songwriters receive when an album they get credited on goes platinum. Right now the only place he can hang his Revelation one is in the garage.

You think he has one??

Seriously though, I don't want to see anymore re-recorded songs. The only exception would be to redo the songs from Red 13 and add them to an album, I think a lot of people missed out on some good music there. Other than that, they were fun, but that's enough.

Does your opinion allow room for re evaluation because Hanson DID do re records?

He may have , but they (Foreigner aka Mick Jones) was wise enough to not put them on the Can't Slow Down package. My point was with today's technology, the original music from back in the day sounds even better!

Can you get that concept or are you just thick!

You guys are just nuts. How is Journey supposed to break new ground when so many people want to hang on to the past.

Seriously, I think the re-records served their purpose. As much as new fans are pining for more, it's not a sign of artistic growth to continue further down that road. Revelation got Journey back up a few rungs on their ladder, that they had fallen down with the Generations release. At this very moment Journey is still being defined by a song they wrote in 1981, DSB. I think a great challenge begets great reward and if the band can forge ahead with a brand new material and get even close to the success they had with Revelation, it would be a great career achievement for Schon and Cain. To show that they have reinvented themselves similarly to what Van Halen did with Hagar, stepping totally away from the past would be monumental. Further re-records could be considered a safety net but also a tether to their former singer. I think cutting the line will be healthy action at this juncture in the band's history.

Edit: Now that I have heard Neal's interview at NAMM, I have to re-evaluate everything I just said.
